If you are serious about a crockpot chili recipe, send me an email and I'll provide it.
You don't have to be "retired" or not working at a job to learn to quilt. There are many in our quilt guild that have full time jobs and have families. I took a class at a local shop (lasted several weeks) when I first started. I went in the daytime, but they also offer an evening class. I've been quilting for 11 or 12 years, and it took me a long time to get to the point where making a quilt is like making bread. Sure I do things for a challange, or to try something different, but once I get going, it's like mixing flour, water, and yeast. When you want to make bread, you find the recipe, check your ingredients on hand, and then follow the instructions.
When you bake bread, you fit the bread to the meal. Same with quilts, for example, when my sister wanted an "old timey" quilt for a couch throw, I looked for a recipe, that is a pattern. Then I designed the quilt and looked around to see if I had the ingredients (the fabric). I purchased some new fabric for the quilt and mostly used fabric that I had on hand.
My first quilt, the quilt that I made during the class, was finished, but it's now used by the cats! Once you start "playing with fabric" you will find that many of your other artistic talents end up in your quilts! I'm not out of "corners" and areas that need to be cleaned. I was hoping that you would come help me!
Take care,
marti
