419571, Thunderbird links no longer active...hep me
Posted by mickster, Mon Aug-07-06 01:31 PM
One of the recent Thunderbird updates/revs has rendered links dead.
Their site has a VERY oblique guide to retuning the link function but my 2 brain cells have ben unable to figure out which rabbit hole to jump in. Can anybody 'splain to me in simple terms where and how to make links work again?
Thank you in advance!

Are these the links you speak of, or what other reference did you view?

Yup...That's the page. I DID get the user.js file created but if what I'm reading is correct, you have to edit in every single link to enable the link function? Please tell me that's not true!

Mickster I saw the day you posted this and feared you would not get much of an answer here. Since it's been a few days already with only 1 response I was wondering if you have thought about posting your problem on Mozilla's forum?

Guess that'll be my next step...
I know I've posted a previous thread on the subject as have others but a search on our Forum didn't get any sshow 'em.
I thought more of us were using Thunderbird but obviously not. Links in emails not working would frustrate more than just this nut.

The problem was...there was no default browser for the OS to use to open the links. Got that from one of the posts on the Thunderbird section of the Mozilla Forums. The screwup happened when I played with that Beta 2 of Firefox and then updated my other installation of the 1.5 version.
I didn't like the Beta 2 but now things are nice again with the current one.
Thanks guys!

Yup that's a great forum w/ a lot of knowledgeable peeps over there. I posted there before with good results.

And Michael, you're braver than I for running that Beta2 version. I'm always very reluctant to run "beta" of anything - I D/Led IE v7.0 beta and still haven't pulled the trigger on trying it out yet.
