My sister nicknamed me Cuder when I was a teenager. I tried using that as my log in name on another forum but it was already taken. I tried adding numbers to it and they were taken also so I spelled it back wards and tried adding numbers but they were taken too so I figured I was safe with reduc500.
Aren't you glad you asked? haha

Jan what about you Kiwi?

This has come up before but if you missed it...back in the days of the Winmag Forum, where you probably know many here originaly came from. That was the first forum I had ever joined and didn't really know what to use or if I would be sticking around very long. So I just used my initials. It kind of stuck, so now it's too late to change.

P.S. Wait until you find out about Grogan's name (If he'll even enlighten the newer folks about it)

The term 'grogan' is slang for a piece of shit. Back in my early days on the Net, I used to hang out in a newsgroup called alt.tasteless and that term was used often there. I've been using the name Grogan for around 9 years now.

I guess they had to call a spade a spade!
HaHa, *kidding*! (Jan made me do that...)

Mine is nothing as lofty as some of yours. Just wanted one that would float to the top of alphbetized lists. Not long after Alex started the UD crunching team AKA PC911 I joined and wanted to find my name near the top of his listings. Hence A_* .

Thor, God of Thunder is from one of the legends out of the Germanic regions and was thought to be responsible for good harvests. Seemed to me like a powerfull, righton kind of guys' guy too!

Just my last name followed by the first letter from my first and middle names, John William. I wasn't being very creative at the time because all I wanted to do is register so I could post a question. Didn't realize I'd get hooked. Some friends at work call me Noonie; hence the sig. (Which I prefer over noonanjw)

Hey, Brookernh! We's practically neighbors. Methuen, (or as native Methuenites pronounce it Medtuen), Ma.

Starting in 6th grade it seemed that I had just adlibbed my way through school. Then this one kid started calling me adlib. Then it caught on. When it was time for me to register an internet name when I was first on the net in '95 adlib was taken, so I became ablib. and it's been my internet name since and probably will be for life.

The town called Manatuwadge. In the mine I started working in there were 11-12 other dave,s on the crew. You can imagine the confusion when some one said Dave come other here!!! so the one,s before me got nic,s and short fat, tall etc. had been taken.i got called after the last mineing town i had been in.Hence wawadave.
i,m just glad i never told them i had worked in turkey!! lol

I picked my name for the flower I love, daylily. It is a play on words that I put to gether to describe the way the flowers make me feel when I see a seedling bloom from a cross that I did. It also tells how long the flower is open, one day for each and every bloom on every plant and there are some 35,000 registered named varieties of daylilies. Daylily folks are the best people! We have a saying that describes how we feel, "we come for the flowers but we stay for the people".Most of the hybridizers are willing to take a newcomer to daylilies and help them learn until they are competing with said hybridizer at shows and for sales.

LOL looks like alot of us needed pc help and just grabbed a name to register.
I found pc911 with a google search for pc help. There was only one forum so I sat here reading and laughing at the conversations and getting good info for quite awhile. THEN I needed personalized help.
My kids suggested DaBears, which was taken. Then DaDwarfs (not the hi ho hi ho dwarves but the D&D kind ) was picked by them too.
And here I am stuck with this name

Not much to mine. First initial and last name and a 1. My son already had taken bkoenig somewhere else, so I tacked a 1 on to keep us separated.

Hi, I'm Mike. Notice how some people insist on using people's real names instead of their screen names? There were a lot of Mike's so Myk was to avoid confusion and was faster to type.

SNL did a skit once about people calling Jimmy Carter at the White House and asking "real" questions. It was a play on Carter's supposed "regular guy" persona.

The script is here. I just thought it was hilarious. Especially Carter saying "You took some Orange Sunshine."

Marti is my name, not my true legal name, but the name that I have been called all of my life. I use the name "Marti" for everything, except for a few important legal documents.

Edit: If you want to know about my avatar, it started out as a plain white piece of PFD (prepared for dying) cloth. I took a picture of my completed work and turned it into an avatar.

No, it's not because I'm an accomplished fibber.
When I came of age, back in the early '70s, Janis Joplin was singing her version of "Me and Bobby McGee." The gang, because my first name is Robert, decided this would be a fine moniker for me.

I guess I better post my own as some peeps are telling me it wasn’t fair of me to ask and not tell…..

Nothing fancy, I just so happen to love Kiwi fruit and Strawberries! Not all things appear to be as you may see them, Kiwi’s are kinda funny looking on the outside, but sweet and delicate on the inside. *grins* That be me…LOL
The numbers 20 & 22 are both my son’s birthdates and I knew I would never forget those numbers, hell they don’t let me forget. LOL
So that’s kind of how I put it all together on another forum, and I just have used it most places since then..… but as I type this and even before now, I have been thinking of a change. I have had Kiwi for several years now and I am looking for something different.

Change is good!

If a person was to change their moniker, can the post count stay the same and the registration date? *fingers crossed, hoping for a yes answer*

I always thought Kiwi's were kinda hairy on the outside

The Night Rider bit comes from a nickname given to me by a guitarist I worked for - I was asked whether I minded driving the van and as I wasn't that confident at the time driving larger vehicles I said "No probs but I'll do the night runs because the roads are quieter"
So I became the driver on the night runs and got christened Night Rider. It aint because I look like or wanna be David Hasselhoff!! Hence the lack of a 'K'.

The numbers got added due to being refused without (even though Nightrider wasn't even registered and Nightrider_1 never worked either so in an impulse I added the 666) Didn't think it would matter originally - didn't expect this place to become my home from home Ah the wonder of hindsight:D

The first three letters of my internet name are the initials of my personal names and the last two are the first two letters of my surname (some sites require 5 or more letters). My use of the Union Flag as an avatar is not from an excess of patriotism but just for identification, to demonstrate that I won't necessarily understand or share the views of the majority American members.

My life revolves around a myriad of randomness. I feel as if i'm hovering like a spirit, never touching the ground. I tread dangerous waters and even now I feel dark clouds looming over my presence. Ok, ya shamed me into it.

It's actually my name, which apparently means "dealer" in a language I cannot speak.

My last name is Messmore, which got every conceiveable twist made of it in school. For some reason I didn't like people messing with my first name, and in Sophmore Plane Geometry, the teacher went around the class to get our names. I said "Delar," and she asked "I imagine you go by Del?" "I imagine not," I said, and THAT pretty much determined the grade in THAT class for the year.

I try not to make fun of other people's names.

It's my middle name and was called that by parents and, naturally, by locals and relatives. Worked fine throughout my school years prior to the military. First name then became more important. Back to home grounds and middle name after discharge. First name used again when hired by the company I worked for for 33 years (because military records indicated first name, middle name and last name). Back to middle name since retirement.

Don't name your kids planning to call him/her by the middle name. It can lead to much frustration in later life. I could have probably handled it better early on but didn't have the awareness at the time.

Twas back in 98 when I first got on the internet. Tried and tried to come up with a unique ID for Yahoo. Everything I tried was already taken so finally had to accept one I didn’t particularly like. Then one day I was at one of my son’s house and saw his rather large dog laying lazily out in the yard and thought “yarddog” would make a good moniker only to find that too was already in use. No problem – I thought – I’ll just change the spelling to the redneck vernacular “yarddawg”. Nope – already taken. So try “yarddaawg”. Ahh – success. So everywhere I go on the internet that requires an ID I use yarddaawg and haven’t found it to be in use anywhere as yet.

When I first got on the web using a WebTV, I had to pick a screenname to sign on with. My name is Dave, I lived in Allston, MA, so I picked allstondave. And that name has served me well for about 8 years, never tried to log into a site and been told that that name was taken, unless i'd alteady been there.

That's all there is to the story, sorry if it's not too entertaining.

Pretty predictable. I quit smoking in 1988 and went the cinnamon stick, sunflower seed route till I drove my wife and co-workers batty with my "droppings". Then I discovered toothpicks. Round slender, smooth, sharply pointed old growth Fir toothpicks. I have had one in the corner of my mouth since 88. I am a connoisseur of toothpicks. Only the best toothpicks made from the rain forests of South America or the old growth fir stands of Oregon (my home state) and Washington, and British Columbia will do. Any other toothpick is inferior.

Sometimes when things get tough, and the good toothpicks are hard to find, I will go deep into the woods and chainsaw a 50' fir and then take the top 24 inches for tpik stock and make my own.

Oh yeah, did I mention I give a dollar to Greenpeace and Earth First every year!

da-Termin-eh-tor

Obviously it comes from The Terminator. However, being Canadian, I exchanged the "a" for an "eh", and "The" for "da".

At 6'4", and now unfortunately pushing 280lbs, it fits.

Not as imaginative as so many of you. Surname and first initial was the best I could do back in 02 when I landed here.

Well I can't remember which came first. Animaniacs or my nickname.

In 1990 in North Dakota, I was pretty wild in all things One day my friends said I was pretty wakky, and one of the girls said "Thats my Wakko". And I have loved Animaniacs and I definitely think I identify myself the closest to him as how I am in life.

Pretty much stuck since then.

I'm amazed at how many people are unhappy with their screen name. Seems as though many just wanted to post a question but then promptly got hooked. It is interesting to learn how many came up with their names though.

Allstondave; nice to know there's another Massachusetts-ite here. I checked out your website. Looks great! I noticed you mention the "Do not call" list. Life has been GOOD since I signed up. I had reached my limit with getting two or three of those calls a night.

General_K was made up by someone I used to work with. It really doesn't have any meaning. Later on, I decided to spoof the "Special K" cereal logo, with help from Miztrial.

To be honest, I'm really getting bored with being General_K.

Formally I'm Robert, informally I'm Bob. I've been called bobbo derisively so I decided to turn it to my advantage and consider it a compliment. If I ever become sufficiently competent with a computer I'll start using a capital B as in Bobbo.

Kind of complicated. I didn't want to use my real name, but I didn't want a nonsense name either. My last name is hard to understand for Americans, especially on the phone, and when I was a kid I got tired of having to spell it all the time. So, for ordering pizzas and stuff I started using the name of my favorite baseball player of the day, Bob Gibson. That was 36 years ago, so I guess it stuck.

I do use an abbreviated version of my middle name at some other forums, but reserve "Bob G" for here.

My avatar is a wolf. I like wolves.

Nothing too special. I tried a couple of combinations of Rob and they were all taken (that's the trouble with having a popular name). So I went with rocketrobbie because I love anything Space related (especially Wallpapers) and being 33 years old, I've always loved the Space Shuttle. I still remember grades 6, 7, & 8, watching the Space Shuttle launches when they weren't so routine and watching the Challenger disaster in school is something that I will always remember. At Emulator (classic gaming) forums, I go by RetroRob.

Birth name is Ilona...Hungarian name, but I'm not...is pronounced e-lona by Europeans...Americans say i-lona. Got tired (at age 13) of having name screwedup by 99% of the people who know me (adding/subtracting letters)...so I said I will be Lonnie! 53 is the age I was when I joined PC911
BTW...only thing that I don't sign 'Lonnie' is/are driver's license and legal documents...checks, etc are signed as Lonnie

I share the name Michael with a few other regulars. Being of the Irish, once upon a time catholic persuasion, the mickster moniker was a natural.
My 52nd birfday was the 25th of last month. I'm just north of Tampa/Clearwater, FL.
I'd forgotten Ilona was Lonnie. I need to come over to the other 2 Forums more often.

I'm at the regular Forum several times a day...to read the threads and sometimes post a question! Have cut down from 17+ Forum websites to 5 now - got tired of reading all the woes re HiJackThis and all the other baddies out there - newbies I can understand their concerns, but most threads being posted at the other websites are done by 'the old pros' that should know better!

Not many people know it, but dubber is not the first name I used at PC911. I originally used "cooleyaf", which is my last name(cooley) plus the first letter of my first and middle names.

One day I posted something that I thought was so monumentally stupid that I changed my online name to dubber.

I used dubber because ..uh..er..well...I don't really know. It just kinda popped into my head.

There are some more dubbers here and there on the Internet, not very many, mainly guys who drive souped up VWs or make a living electronically copying stuff.

Paul is my middle name, which is what I go by. And yes, it does get confusing at times as posted earlier. I was Paul on the WinMag and when I got to then PC911 forum, that name was taken, so I added my initial from my last name to get registered.

My nome de plume comes a book series written by the late Barry Sadler about Casca Fugio Longinus, the centurion who stabbed Christ in the side. The Romans kept amazing records and the church has alot of them, so they know the name.

Anyway, Casca is cursed by Christ to remain a soldier until the second coming when Casca is allowed to die.

Just bumping this one last time for anyone that may have missed introducing themselves.

Plus I was reading through it again as I really enjoyed hearing about each of you. *smiles* Thanks for being involved in it...

Hi All, Only just seen this,- been away. I'm called "Old Git" by my 2 sons. BTW in England Git stands for "Geriatric in training", so I guess that in a way it is appropriate!!!
My Avatar is the helmet of king Raedwald who ruled East Anglia in the seventh century. He was buried in his ship about 20 miles from where we live. If anyone is interested you can learn more about him here:-http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/places/suttonhoo/
Good to find a bit more about so many handles!
Sincerely,
Richard.

as everybody here knows by now, i was born and raised in germany. i'm also a little weird and crazy sometimes, which also a lot of you can attest to. hence "crazygerman" came into existence 6 or 7 years ago.

however, i've become an american citizen since then, and i am using crazyXgerman now everywhere else. maybe i can talk jason or grogan into adding that X to my nick one of these days if possible.
