What's on your desktop at the moment. I think it would be a great idea to pin a thread on the first of every month at the top of the Off-Topic forum page. Just a thought. Here's mine; and I will make sure to change it on the 1st of June and post a June Desktop thread.

Nah, those are marks left by the wheels of my chair.

I've since cleaned up a bit, that was during finals week.

A little bit of Cameron, eh. She looks positively radiant but she looks a little "chilly" if you get my drift. It must be a little "nippy" at your house.

Can some one tell me why this is the largest image I can post?
I can't seem to figure out what is wrong. I start out with a 1280 x1024 desk top image and when I resize it I have to lower it to 140x116 in order for it to be at 50KBytes. Please reply.

Pauliez, please follow these instructions:

1. Hit your Print Screen button
2. Now open Irfanview (if you don't have it, shame on you)
3. Select EDIT, then PASTE
4. Now save it as a .png file using the default quality level 6
5. Then select IMAGE, RESIZE/RESAMPLE and resize it to 640 x 480
6. Now SAVE it as a .jpg file with a quality of 70 to 80 (whatever gets you to the 50 kb limit) You'll never be able to use quality of 100 unless it's a very basic wallpaper and even then I'd stick with 80% quality.

If you don't have Irfanview, use MSPaint or whatever other graphics program you use (it's just easier with Irfanview)

This works for me EVERYTIME. Hope it helps.

Either that, your you could always upload your pic to a website. Sometimes DSL/cable setups come with your own site. You can always upload the pic there and link it. (As is my case.) Or, you can always try here, http://screenshots.haque.net. It's free, and once you upload, it gives you a thumbnail pic with url, which comes in handy when posting here. You can see some of my old ss's here.

Thank you Josh N for your reply. I went to your site and was very impressed. I have high speed cable inter 3.5 mbs and I will be calling Comcast up to find out if I have the same thing. Your don't want to know how many times I reformated my PC this week thinking I had some sort of bug in it. I did enough reformats that should last to the year 2050. In fact I was getting ready to contact the people who built my PC and go through a FDisc. Thats another thing on my to-do-list that I want to leard how to do. Thanks again.

It's not really cluttered,... you should see the other side of the room.

Her name is Anna.

Thanks Joe,
She's a grandma now.

Bye the way, whenever I post with an attachment, I'm too thick to figure out how to get the picture into the actual body of the post, as opposed to a link to the picture.
How do you do it that way Joe?

I just love this picture - its been on my desktop for a couple of months now. I don't have a kitten or a great dane, but it reminds me that someone's "got my back"

aha, it worked!
My "Iconoid" hides the desktop icons when something other that the mouse pointer is on it allowing an uncluttered view of the wallpaper.
(Kinda wide, though)
