"Who are you to decide what can and cannot be discussed in an off topic forum. You know, if only topics that don't offend moderators are allowed, you might as well get rid of the off topic forum entirely and just have a computer forum..."
Be careful what you wish for.
The only reason this site exists is because a handful of your moderators refused to let the old forum die, and through a great deal of hard work created PCQ&A. You were not even here at that time, and so don't remember the anguish of our members at the very real prospect of losing the forum. Most went scurrying around the net looking for a new home, but a few of us set about creating this new home.
What helped kill the old forum was constant bickering by a few malcontents who did little other than nitpick the management of the forum, while posting off subject material that caused distraction and inflamed passions.
We decided, with some trepidation to create a side forum here to keep off topic posting away from the computer help forum, which was the only reason for creating this site, to help people with computer problems.
A moderator, contrary to your thinking does NOT have any choice in what posts they read or what threads they follow. I read every post that appears here unless I happen to be away, and reply to many, as do most of the moderators. We pay particular attention to posts and threads by those we find to be trouble makers, and subjects we know to be hot button issues. It is our job to make decisions in an effort to head off potential problems.
You have one Hell of a lot of nerve to accuse me of being anti religion or anything else! I am mostly indifferent to religion, in a long life I have never cared or asked a single person about their religious beliefs or lack thereof. I have studied more religions than you have probably even heard of, and respect the adherents of all of them. I have participated in long and rational religious discussions with Priests, Ministers, and Rabbis. I have read religious texts in a number of languages. I know more about some religions than many of their adherents.
You are free to object to any moderator's decisions. You are also free to stay or leave, but we will continue to make our decisions, popular or unpopular, not because we can, but because we must.
