Give it a chance. Like all things in life, things change and the quicker you can adjust the better you will be. I found once I put it in Linear mode, everything was fine; though the font is definitely smaller but I can live with that.

Funny, my eyesight mustn't be as good as yours. The font seems the same to me in linear or thread mode.

And here I thought it was my machine that wouldn't increase the font size.

You can get the "old look" by going to the top of the forum main page and choosing "view in linear mode".

That does not quite look like the older style.
This new forum REALLY hurts my eyes... its too damn bright.

Any chance for themes to set colors or ask the admins to dim the bright colors down a notch?

About the closest I can get it to the old forum is to use "view linear mode" and using "UBB" for message layout.

Colors are still killing my eyes.

Brenda,
I like you, but don't tell anyone how they will like anything.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and views, and I won't distract from yours. My opinion simply does not agree with yours and several others who express similar or the same.

I do not care for this style of forum as it presently exists. It has the capability to improve greatly, to include color themes to allow users to view the forums as they wish.

Again this isn't against you or anyone else. Its my opinion that I do not care for the forum in its present state.

Reserve any judgements for a while. There is still a good deal of tweaking we have to do on the new script yet, and we all have to investigate the new features and viewing options, to learn what works best for us personally. I suspect it will be a week before we get a feel for things, and everyone exchanges what they have learned. So give us and yourself a little time.

I like the linear mode ok. But for some reason in the switch over I lost my password, and also lost the page where I had written it down. Had to get a new name and sign again, hope Jason will send me my old password. Has anyone else had this problem ?

Not sure what you mean by the colors - what I"m seeing is an abundance of white space - you could try lowering your contrast setting if that's the problem. If you use a browser like Moz or Opera that let's you use some combination of your own colors/system colors, you could try that. I usually don't like it because so much of the "visual formating" of forums is the contrasting colors which you loose doing this. But in dcf view there's enough going on to still look like a real page instead of just a bunch of text. Here's what my index page in dcf looks like in Moz with system colors and ignoring specified colors.

Problem is that lowering contrast lowers it for everything, there's not PCQ&A contrast setting.

I guess it depends on your situation - I keep room lights low (in a half basement so that helps some) so I can keep contrast/brightness low. My sense is a lot of people probably run too high without realizing it.

Time zone: User menu >> Edit your preference >> find a GMT "-" or "+" that matches your local time.

All possible times are not given as options, therefore use your GMT "-
" or "+" as your guides. For example, I live in USA/Central and Daylight Saving is in effect right now; USA/Central Daylight is not an option so I selected USA/Eastern to show my local time.

I liked it when I clicked a thread that it turned red so I knew I looked at it easily..Now it just lightens and I have my options in browser to turn red to visited sites. Other forums do the same..I hate it. Just my 2 cents.

Sigs are limited to 255 characters. That includes all coding characters. If your sig is broken now, then you need to edit it to "pare it down."

The problem is that your sig points to an invalid address -

http://www.pcqanda.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=view_attachment&file=3e0bbfd231df5fda.gif

If you go back to user prefences and type -

http://www.pcqanda.com/dcforum/User_files/3e0bbfd231df5fda.gif

- you should get your sig back

Edit your Preferences, under 'Edit Your Profile' look for the Signature box and type in

http://www.pcqanda.com/dcforum/User_files/3e0bbfd231df5fda.gif

so it looks like this -

and press update.

You should then get back.

EDIT - You didn't have a problem uploading it - the one you see is hosted on the forum. You just don't have the correct address to point to it.
