"The Wages of Fear, The Sorcerer and ..." Tue Sep-05-17 12:19 AM by Scotterpops
Hi gang, long time no post. Some of you may be annoyed by this, but as it happens I'm still alive, sorry.
Anyway, are any of you cranky old malcreants movie buffs? I'm trying to remember if there was a second remake of a movie called The Wages of Fear (original release in the U.S. in about 1955). I know there was one remake released in about 1977 called The Sorcerer, directed by William Friedland and starring Roy Scheider.
I could swear though that there was a second remake, probably released in the early to mid 2000s. Am I crazy? Anyone remember it, or is my misspent adolescence in the 60s coming back to haunt me (again)?
According to this from 2015: "Now, a third take on the material is on the way. Ben Wheatley, the twisted genius behind Kill List, Sightseers, and A Field in England, is in talks to remake The Wages of Fear and we’re oddly cool about it.".

Thanks Bob. The Sorcerer was a remake of the original French movie (set in South America) Wages of Fear. Friedkin (sp?) simply titled his version differently.
Both the original and the Friedkin remake are superb movies, well worth seeing. I Netflix them occasionally, and I'm looking forward to the remake currently in the pipeline that Jim referred to above.
