Or contemporary music lovers in general.

Three remarkable guitarists (Pedro Javier Gonzalez, John Jorgenson and Tommy Emmanuel) in a loosely flamenco interpretation of Sultans Of Swing.

Thanks, Paul and James. Both performances are really enjoyable.

On a somewhat related note, Rock and Roll guitarist and legend Chuck Berry died today at age 90.

Jim.

Back in the day, very first rock riffs I stole, Johnny B. Goode. Thank you and r.i.p., Mr. Berry.

Just saw that on my news site, not a minute ago. A sad loss, but he had a good innings.

Thanks Paul. I just discovered him on P.B.S. a few weeks ago. I was just sitting here in awe. What was even more amazing was the fact that he plays an acoustic with the ease of an electric. I just couldn't believe that an Aussie could play that well. (Just pulling your chain Paul.)I didn't realize that he was an Aussie until I heard his accent in his YouTube videos.

Tommy is one of only four Certified Guitar Players, a title bestowed by Chet Atkins on the best of the best in his esteemed opinion. The others are Jerry Reed, John Knowles and Steve Wariner (somehow he overlooked himself)

Tommy also has a brother Phil who plays mainly electric and is also top shelf, but chose not to follow the fulltime professional route. I was lucky to see them in concert together a few years ago - an absolutely stunning show. I doubt I've ever seen two musos enjoy themselves so much. It's notable that Tommy quite happily spends much of the concert playing rhythm to Phil's lead. There are literally dozens of YouTube videos of them performing together.

Low and behold I just checked Tommy's tour dates and he'll be in my City on May 18th with Andy Mckee. I plan on going to see him.

Now that we know where he'll be on May 18th, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what city "my City" is.

Jim.

If you don't know them already, search YouTube etc for videos of Rodrigo y Gabriela - a pair of Mexican buskers made good.

Here's one:-

Their use of the acoustic guitar as a percussion instrument is something else!
