NEW YORK (AP) - Gasoline prices are a little lower this week after 39 days of increases, though experts say they should rise again this spring.
The national average, which stayed at $3.758 per gallon on Friday, was down about a penny since Monday. Prices are still at the highest levels ever for this time of year.
Tom Kloza, chief analyst at the Oil Price Information Service, says prices dipped this week as suppliers conduct the equivalent of a spring clearance. They're discounting winter gasoline blends to make room for different blends that are required for summer driving.
Meanwhile, benchmark oil prices rose by $1.42 to $108 per barrel in New York. Brent crude rose 46 cents to $125.90 per barrel in London.

Yesterday and this morning a gallon of premium here was 3.99.9 which was up a couple of cents from the previous few days. This afternoon I had to go out again and it had risen to 4.01.9. And you don't even get a free tube of Vaseline or KY with a fill up.

Dropped another cent this morning.
Locally owned stations are more likely to react quickly to changes. Stations owned by national brands and leased to the operator are usually told by corporate when to change a price
I think supply and demand are a bit distorted. It's not a closed system. What can't be sold here at whatever margins are required is shipped overseas. The oil companies work to improve or maintain the bottom line. So with declining sales volume why not raise the price and use Israel/Iran or whatever as a pretense?
