"Want To Go To Mexico"

If, you are ready for the adventure of a lifetime, TRY THIS:

Enter Mexico illegally. Never mind immigration quotas, visas, international law, or any of that nonsense.

Once there, demand that the local government provide free medical care for you and your entire family. Demand bilingual nurses and doctors.

Demand free bilingual local government forms, bulletins, etc.

Keep your American identity strong. Fly Old Glory from your rooftop, or proudly display it in your front window or on your car bumper.

Speak only English at home and in public and insist that your children do likewise.

Demand classes on American culture in the Mexican school system.

Demand a local Mexican driver license. This will afford other legal rights and will go far to
legitimize your unauthorized, illegal, presence in Mexico.

Drive around with no liability insurance and ignore local traffic laws.

Insist that local Mexican law enforcement teach English to all its officers.

Good luck! You'll be demanding for the rest of time, because it will never happen.

It will not happen in Mexico or any other country in the world except >right here in the United States, land of the naive and stupid, idiotic politically correct politicians.

In response to bobw (Reply # 0)

>If, you are ready for the adventure of a lifetime, TRY THIS:

Well, before we even got out of the gate you forgot one very important step.

Starve.

Live in crushing abject poverty all your life with no hope of rising above it in your own country. There is little or no public education in most of the country you live in and the scourge of corruption promises to keep it that way. There is little or no medical care available. You've probably watched parts of your family die well before their time (I don't mean that you read about it in the papers - your own people, your father, mother, uncle, you get the idea) for reasons related to malnutrition and lack of proper health care.

OK, now that we have that little better perspective, let's see where this goes.

>Enter Mexico illegally. Never mind immigration quotas, visas,
>international law, or any of that nonsense.

Ah, you mean the way my Ulster-Scot forefathers did? They just got on a boat and came over to America, walked ashore and made their way and here we are. Nobody asked them for their immigration papers (zeigen Sie mir Ihre Papiere), my friend. They would've done exactly what today's Mexicans do. I promise you that.

>Once there, demand that the local government provide free
>medical care for you and your entire family. Demand bilingual
>nurses and doctors.

What Mexicans demand this? Where can I do the same? Do you mean what we've volunteered?

Bilingual services have been provided in much of this country because service providers of all types felt a responsibility to respond to the needs of the community. This was done voluntarily, not as a consequence of demands.

>Demand free bilingual local government forms, bulletins, etc.

I work for the government, and I so do less than twenty miles from the busiest international border crossing in the entire world. We do not provide forms or bulletins in Spanish or any language other than English.

We may elect to do so at some point in the future, but as I type this, we provide only English applications, forms, instructions on how to fill out the forms, etc. That in spite of the fact that about 40% of the legal residents on this area are Hispanic.*

>Keep your American identity strong. Fly Old Glory from your
>rooftop, or proudly display it in your front window or on your
>car bumper.

I don't see any Mexican flags on car bumpers here in San Diego - and most certainly not on cars driven by illegals who are trying desperately to blend in and not get caught. I do see Mexican flags waved by Americans of Mexican heritage who are proud of their cultural background. Like when I participate in St. Patricks Day celebrations, or wear my kilt on Tartan Day or go to Highland games here in San Diego. Are you suggesting I shouldn't take pride in my ethnic-cultural heritage?

>Speak only English at home and in public and insist that your
>children do likewise.

What the ... did you bump your head on the bigot post getting out of bed this morning? Mexican families that I know insist their children speak English. Very few Mexicans that I've met over the decades here in Southern California OR in Mexico don't speak some English - usually enough to get by.

>Demand classes on American culture in the Mexican school system.

Well, considering that this part of the country used to be a part of Mexico and that a large portion of the legal residents are of Mexican decent, why not? In the schools I went to - frequented almost universally by European-Americans - they most certainly taught European history. I think schooling should be relevant to the people that are in school, but that's just me.

By the way, can you point me to even one illegal alien from Mexico that DEMANDED all this shit you claim?

>Demand a local Mexican driver license. This will afford other
>legal rights and will go far to
>legitimize your unauthorized, illegal, presence in Mexico.

The idea of allowing illegal aliens to get driver's licenses in California was a step toward helping them to get auto insurance, which they can't get without a valid CDL. The legislation was proposed by Americans (some of whom were of Mexican heritage). If bigots hadn't put the kibosh on it, many of those illegals you complain about so vociferously who don't have insurance would now have auto insurance if that legislation had passed. Sheesh!

>Drive around with no liability insurance and ignore local
>traffic laws.

Please see above. Nice try though.

>Insist that local Mexican law enforcement teach English to
>all its officers.

Mexicans don't insist that cops speak Spanish. Responsible law enforcement officials train officers to speak Spanish in order to be able to deal with many primarily Spanish speaking citizens (notice I didn't say exclusively Spanish speaking).

>Good luck! You'll be demanding for the rest of time, because
>it will never happen.

You'd better hope it doesn't. I certainly do.

>It will not happen in Mexico or any other country in the
>world except >right here in the United States, land of the
>naive and stupid, idiotic politically correct politicians.

And the land of short-sighted bigots.

* By the way, the name you see below is not my full name. When addressing me by my full name, you may call me Scott de Avelar Gilmore. I am half Brazilian. My Brazilian mother's parents (on both sides of her family) were from Spain (you know, like in HiSPANIc). I would have loved to have met the when I was a child, but they died before I was born.

Oh yeah, they died of complications from malnutrition. Effectively, they starved to death.

Plenty of LULAC suits requring support for illegals, need to check before saying it was not demanded.

The real argument is what laws do we choose to obey? If they can ignore immagration laws can they ignore our other laws?

If the laws of our country are to be ignored based on personal feelings let me know, I got my face paint ready and lots of varmints to hunt.

Under Construction

Leave your little world in Califoria and come to Tennessee. The Mexicans demonstrate(demand)in the streets for what they want, and fly the Mexican flag. All the while they stop traffic, prevent workers and others from entering/leaving public buildings like the State house ETC.

We feed, house, treat, and educate them at our expense, and the more they get the more they demand. Yes, they need to be fed, housed and educated. But do by the law.

No, I am not a bigot nor am I against immigration. I too am a product of immigration, second generation. I never learned the language of my ancestors. But my kinfolks came through the gate and fulfilled the legal requirements. They learned English so they could converse with the community. They bought property(farm) and became a part of the community, not a country in a country.

I do admire their work ethic. I have a neighbor three houses down who was even on the news admitting through an interpretor that she was here illegally. In the meantime the family has improved the property they bought. They have landscaped, poured concrete, painted, fixed up and built on to the house and built storage buildings.

Bill K.

He should check out North Carolina. Cars with stolen tags, no insurance, fictitious drivers licenses, murders, house invasions, drug hauling and selling, and driving under the influence of alcohol are everyday occurences among the illegals in the Greensboro, High Point area. There is even a black market in which people from the New York, Maryland area bring van loads of illegals here to procure driver's licenses

Well let me assure you i did not compose that piece ! And i can understand your stand . I am not opposed to legal aliens,i do however believe we need to get control of our borders, and find a workable solution to the apparent illegal issue. Most of All that you have stated is true, i am not a bigot, bigots can not survive a military career. I have never in my life mistreated a minority, i believe that all persons have the right to life ,liberty ,and the pursuit of happiness. I do also believe that if to obtain that ,they must leave their native Country,it should be done in the proper manner. My apologies to all that may have been offended . I got the post from another forum that i frequent . I have no idea as to its origin.

>Plenty of LULAC suits requring support for illegals...

So show me. Set me straight. You didn't take my word for what I was saying, why should I take yours? Support your argument.

>If the laws of our country are to be ignored based on personal feelings let me know...

It's been the passtime of Americans since day one. When was the last time you drove five miles on a freeway and aobeyed all the traffic laws? We just don't like it when one of "them" does it. It's OK when "we" do it though.

>Leave your little world in Califoria and come to Tennessee.

California isn't a "little world." It's the sixth largest economy in the world, and much of it is driven by Americans of Mexican heritage. It also has the largest population of Mexicans outside of Mexico in the world. Nothing little about it my friend.

>The Mexicans demonstrate(demand)in the streets for what they want, and fly the Mexican flag. All the while they stop traffic, prevent workers and others from entering/leaving public buildings like the State house ETC.

Something wrong with flying the flag of the country your people came from? I fly the Irish flag on St. Patrick's day. Got a problem with that?

As far as these so-called alledged demonstrations, I'd like a little more evidence of who was demonstrating, where this was done and what exactly was demanded and by whom. I hope you don't mind if I don't take your word for it that a bunch of illegals were out blocking streets and demanding driver's licenses and schooling in Spanish and trying to drive out and take over all you nice pearly white Merkins.

#5. "RE: Want To Go To Mexico"
In response to Scotterpops (Reply # 4)

Having thought about this thread for a little while after that last posting, I decided to return to it.

This is a nasty, contentious issue because it involves racism - or at least perceived racism. Also, I feel particularly close to the issue because I am so directly affected by it, so it's hard to remain entirely detached when discussing it. Not a recipe for a constructive discussion.

Long before there were any significant number of Mexicans in Tennessee, I was living and working with Mexican Americans every day here in California. Having lived in different parts of the world (not just visited), maybe my perspective was a little different.

Each wave of immigrants to these shores adds nuance to American culture. After the Vietnam conflict ended, about a generation ago now, we received a wave of Southeast Asians here in San Diego county (many originating from Marine base Camp Pendleton), and in Southern California in general. The numbers were much smaller, but there was a ripple throughout. What we experienced was an influx of family-oriented, hard-working people with high regard for education who at first had some trouble assimilating. Much of the reason for those initial problems were, in my opinion, because of racism - subtle, but sure. In fact, I witnessed one clear-cut example of racism toward Asians in this community about twenty years ago, so again, this is from first hand experience.

Those problems have now subsided. That wave of immigrants have pretty much blended into the woodwork and from all signs, they're very welcome here now. They were given a chance to assimilate and with some bumps, they did well and they contribute richly to American culture.

Give those Mexicans a chance. In Tennessee the Mexican migration is a relatively recent phenomenon. Taken as a whole, they are some of the best examples of true family-values folks you're likely to meet. But they're also fun loving, funny, humble, good natured, very hard working and just plain good people. Trust me; they'll be an asset to the community.

Let the fact that some Mexicans are here illegally go. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it no matter what laws Congress threatens to pass. They are NOT going away. Worry about the real problems we have - oil at over $60 a barrel and everyone driving SUVs, war with the Muslim world, an aging population - Mexicans aren't one of them.

Think of it this way. If my Ulster-Scot ancestors were having the problems now that led them to migrate to North America, they would do exactly what Mexicans do now - they'd make a better life for themselves. That's what America's about. We can accommodate another wave of tired, poor huddled masses. In fact we need them. Mexican Americans aren't a problem, they're part of the solution.

LOL
I can't figure out if your first post is racism or not.
A Mexican I know online sure isn't living the life you paint all Mexicans with. He seems very well off as does his friends and family judging from the pictures he's posted and stories he's told.

But if the Mexican don't like how Mexico is they can change it, or they can apply to come here legally.

Also strange how the parents of LEGAL families I know from Mexico don't speak a lick of English. Yes their kids speak English, they wouldn't survive around here if they didn't have a translator. Yet according to you 20 miles from the border there are no families like that, not even in Mexico.

The idea of giving illegals drivers licenses was a step toward allowing them to vote. That is what all this "amnesty" crap is about, politicians pandering for votes.
Why would anyone need a valid Commercial Drivers License to get auto insurance?
How are these poor starving people you paint your picture with supposed to afford a CDL or auto insurance????
Last time I checked the laws about visiting Mexico you have to have Mexican auto insurance. It says nothing about having to have a Mexican drivers license to get that insurance.
If the law was about insurance the law would've been about insurance, not drivers licenses.
Nice try though.

Like Casca points out there are plenty of suits proving your other points wrong.
That leaves me asking the question, "why are you lying to support your views?"

Quote:
So show me. Set me straight. You didn't take my word for what I was saying, why should I take yours? Support your argument.

Ahh, the battlecry of a liberal who got caught.
You didn't support your argument, why should anyone else have to support theirs?

We should treat illegal Mexicans exactly like illegal Americans would be treated in Mexico. Send them to a slum of a prison system and feed them the poorest quality food. If they want better food they can have their family pay for it. Leave them in that prison system until they bribe their way out of it.
Yes illegals are a problem, otherwise we wouldn't have immigration laws.
You're right, they won't go away until we start treating them as someone doing something illegal.

Try this, drive 100 miles into Mexico without Mexican insurance. Don't get your travel visa either. Take a legal US prescription into a pharmacy and have it filled. If you don't run into someone wanting a bribe to not turn you in (refuse to pay them if you do) turn yourself in.
See if you get a free ride home.
(You'd better set your wife up with about $500,000 because after all your court costs and bribes are said and done that will be about what you are set back. I bet after you see how illegals are treated in Mexico you will be singing a different tune.)

I feel that laws should be followed, not just the ones that don't get in the way. If you don't agree with a law, work to change it. The accusations of RACISM aimed at all who don't support all activities of the ILLEGAL invaders is BS.

A couple of thoughts...

There have been a few posts so far about "well the Mexicans I know...", or "the Mexicans where I'm from" BS. Who cares, can anyone provide some statistics and not give me the "Mexicans you know aren't like that" BS?

A few have talked about all the crime these Mexicans create. Big deal...I suspect there are alot of whites and blacks creating alot of crime in your areas also.

Isn't it disrespectful or wrong to fly a flag without the US flag present? Like on a flag pole the US flag has to be the top most one...etc.

The illegals probably don't know flag laws because they never took a consitution test to get here.

Good point. In my defense, what I was doing was supplying annecdotal evidence of my experiences with the issue being discussed. Granted, annecdotal evidence isn't always the best way to support an argument unless there is an overwhelming amount of it and the conditions of the discussion are such that it might be valid. Considering where I live and the social conditions here, I contend that my arguments are valid, but we can agree to disagree on this one.

>A few have talked about all the crime these Mexicans create.

True. Agreed.

If I understand what you're saying here, I don't think I agree with you on this point. My patriotism is an aspect of my character that I find no reason to reassure others about. That others insist that I prove it, and that they question it when I don't display it in a manner they find acceptable is of no concern to me. I feel perfectly comfortable displaying the flag of Ireland at a certain time of the year without flying the American flag along side or above it.

>The illegals probably don't know flag laws because they never

Did you mean flag "customs" rather than flag "laws" in this statement? Sorry, I'm not real clear on your point here.

I feel that there are more *legals* that don't know the guide lines for the American flag. A flag from another country may be flown by itself with no American flag present. If flown on the same staff it should be lower than the American flag. If on a second staff they should be to the right of the American flag from the front view of the flags.

Will you get thrown in jail for not following the guidelines, no, they are just a guide.

The only crime I talk about when talking about illegal aliens is the fact that they are illegal aliens who by nature of their status work for slave wages and don't pay taxes.
If they come here legally I don't care if they run a crack house.

I don't care if the illegal alien is a Canadian. It just happens that the illegal alien problem isn't flooding that border.

>I feel that laws should be followed, not just the ones that

Ah, so you always obey the law. Always? You've never fudged a little on your taxes? You've never driven even ½ mph over the posted speed limit? You never "sample" in the supermarket?

Look, I don't mean to imply that because all of us bend the rules from time to time that it's OK for others to break the law as well. What I am saying is that it just plain isn't as simple as that - and I think you know it. My objection is that you're trying to make it that simple as a way of avoiding the complexities of the issue.

I'll say it again. If my European forefathers had had to break a law or two in order to get their families over here to the promised land durng the Irish potato famine, that's fine with me. My guess is that the forefathers of most of those that are bitching like children about the "illegal" aspect of Mexican immgration either did or would have done the same thing. All this prattle about the legal aspects of Mexican immigration strikes me as a thinly veiled way to argue a point without actually telling us what your real objections are. Which brings us to the next point.

>The accusations of RACISM aimed at all who don't
>support all activities of the ILLEGAL invaders is BS.

Oh no it isn't. There's a long, nasty history of it in this country, and te contention that it plays no part in this argument just plain don't hold water. If racism weren't a significant part of the reason, 1) the objections to Mexican immigrants wouldn't be louder than concerns about our real problems, and 2) might actually include suggestion for solutions rather than just barely-valid complaints.

Here in Florida we have Mexican farm labor, and some construction labor. In south Florida we have a large Cuban immigrant population. many of these people entered the US illegally, many were fleeing for their lives. Many came here when Castro emptied his prisons and shipped 124,000 of them, including Cuban dissidents, here in the 1980 Mariel boat lift.

Many are good citizens, many are criminals now residing in our prisons. All must be judged individually based upon their behavior and contribution to American society. There are a number of nasty names we call people who just judge an entire segment of society based on the behavior of a few, or where they come from, or what they believe. I wont use the names, you know what you are without any labels from me.

This country has always had an influx of people from other countries and cultures. Many never learned English, many did. Ever try learning a language at the age of forty or fifty? Some speak several languages, How many do you speak? Their young children all learn English, and are quickly assimilated into American society. Only their names suggest their heritage.

All my grandparents came from other countries. All of them were leaving to escape untenable conditions to have a new life in a free but unfamiliar country. One of my grandparents fled Russia to save his life and came here illegally. He wound up in Salt Lake City when Lincoln lived in the White House, and died in 1950 at the age of 103.

All of these grandparents of mine spoke with an accent when I knew them, they had many American born children, two of whom were my parents. All owned businesses, paid taxes, provided employment for others. All contributed to their adopted country.

Nearly all of you reading this have similar histories. Many of you are a product of illegal immigrants whether you know it or not. Our ancestors built this nation, defended it, and prospered from it. All of our ancestors, even "Native" Americans came from someplace else during the last Ice Age. Today only your names may suggest where they came from. They were from Africa, Ireland, Italy, China, Germany, Russia, and dozens of other countries. They were Christians, Jews, Muslims, Pagans, athiests, some were criminals, most were honest and poor. They were people.

Today, immigration is a hot button issue, and we sit in judgment. Some judge today's immigrants and paint all with a broad brush, and find all or most wanting, below our standards. Can you spell hypocrisy?

Shelly

I suppose for people like you to ask dumb ass questions. You know damn well where that came from. By your standards ,any and all copied posts without a link are plagiarized . Jokes ETC,Geeze find something else to bitch about. Or as usual, maybe you wish to start a senseless battle.

EDIT:Well damn i am in error again ! I didn't get that from another forum after all ! My wife got it in her E Mail, and forwarded it to me. In any event i am prepared to accept any punishment that you may deem necessary, short of the death sentence of course. I will endeavor in the future ,to be more careful, and maybe ,improve to to point of infalliability.

99 years later. What a visionary that Teddy R.!!!

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes
here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he
shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an
outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or
birthplace, or origin But this is predicated upon the person's becoming
in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no
divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but
something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one
flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and
that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty
and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

You folks don't know nothing from nothing about "immigration".
We of Brooklyn know: hell there was a standing joke about why the Brooklyn Bridge was built: so "illegals" could get to Manhattan to work in white folks kitchen.
Tens of millions of "aliens" have crossed that bridge and helped build New York and this country.

Brooklyn, from Wikopedia:
Brooklyn is the most populous of the five boroughs of New York City with about 2.5 million inhabitants. An independent city prior to 1898, Brooklyn developed out of the small Dutch-founded town of "Breuckelen" on the East River shore of Long Island, named after Breukelen in the Netherlands. Were it still a city, and not a borough, it would be the fourth-largest city in the United States after New York City itself, Los Angeles and Chicago. Despite being part of the City of New York, Brooklyn in character is its own city, as opposed to the Bronx which historically and characteristically could be better described as a northern extension of Manhattan.
Kings County, coterminous with Brooklyn, is also the most populous county in New York. It was named in honor of King Charles II of England.
Variously called the "City of Trees," "City of Homes," or the "City of Churches" in the 19th century, Brooklyn is now often styled the "Borough of Homes and Churches" or even sometimes called "The Planet", popularized by Guru from the rap duo Gangstarr, for its large diversity, population, and size.
Posted along many roads as they enter and exit Brooklyn are signs espousing colorful expressions associated with the borough, such as: "Fugheddaboudit," "Oy Vey!," and "How Sweet It Is."
One sign identifies Brooklyn as the "Home to Everyone From Everywhere!"

So you guys out there just "Kwit cher bitchin'" and get on with life.
Us Brooklynites did and have, "illegals", "aliens" and all.

No one is being accused of being a liar, Bob.

But, as I grow older, my fuse for ignorance and its dire consequences grows ever shorter.

Someone posted a stupid, insensitive, disgusting, racially biased "joke," and, despite all admonitions to the contrary, persisted in an attempt to rationalize his position.

In my opinion, he is a fool -- and, in future, if permitted, I will continue to address him as such.

I've spent the better part of fifty years thinking mendacity meant some sort of evil intent.

Thanks -- I learn many things new every day.

So I'll change my answer to Bob from "mendacity" to "malicious" intent -- which means I meant to hurt the ignorant son-of-a-bitch's ability to spread hatred through stupidity.

Don't ever shut yourself up, Bob.

You are the most disingenuous person here. You take every side without prejudice and apologise for it afterwards.

With the huge egos that evince themselves here, you play a crutial role.

disingenuous " A word that can, and does have many meanings, and in this case it don't exactally fit me,however if you think so ,i wont argue the point.

On the controversial joke (Colored Panties)I found the joke, and i have read far worse offensive jokes,as a matter of fact, the joke is active on many forums. Now i find it dificult to believe that the joke would shock the decorum of any member of this forum that i have read.

The other thing that bothers me is that the majority of the forum members do not" for what ever reason" want their identity known, sometimes it would help to know to whom you are speaking, by knowing ,it could possibly curb some misunderstandings, and ill will.

So, we'll let it pass. Right?

There are over 12,000 registered members. What, blacks don't use the internet or join computer forums?

I've lived in the military with, worked, gone to school with, and dealt with black people all my life. I have friends that are black.

James lives in Quebeq, Dave lives in Vermont...How many black people are in their lives? Probably zero.

My brother-in-law is black and I was effectively raised by a black woman during a long period of time when my mother was near death from polio. Is there a threshhold of some sort to measure "how many black people are in your life"? Do I count them one by one? Do some count more than others? Why would that be important?

Your presumptions about James and me are as ludicrous as your presumption that everyone thought your joke was funny.

Up here in the far North where the sun don't often shine we have a couple of darkly-tinted people who remain suspect, at least fifty full-blooded Eskimos, a surfeit of colorfully-uniformed royal mounted policemen and several assorted moose and beavers.

I can't speak for Dave, but I was a working musician -- tons of wonderful people of all shades did, and hopefully always will, occupy a large part of my heart.

Obviously, it offended the hell outta me, Bob -- but, then again, I speak for no one's decorum but my own. Maybe, because I've lived the exasperating life of a one-legged sideshow, I have an elevated level of intolerance for hurtful ignorance.

And, forgive me, but if you have read far worse offensive stuff you must be visiting some major shitholes.

I love the way you come riding in on your little white (donkey's) ass. Maybe the other don't see it, but i can see right through your pretentious little comments that don't amount to hill of beans. You're nothing but a hypocratic jerkwipe. As much as you love to come here w/ your holier than thou attitude - your foul smell is really stinking up the place. Go take a shower buddy.

Amazing how you would come along to defend trolling, Chewy.

This topic is not about the colored panties joke.
This thread is also not about you flaming someone diagnosed with cancer and saying how you were glad.

What pitiful little lives you must lead.

If this place had any moderation you would be long gone. But obviously this is the only place on the internet you are still allowed to play.

It's like looking at yourself in the mirror isn't it old chap!

Everytime you open that gape of yours, that brown excrement comes out and you start to show your true colors Myk. Maybe you should go do something more useful like counting the cracks in your ceiling or go feed your ass, he looks a little hungry. errr.. unless you got some more wise decrees to hand down Sire.

Wah wahh, you sound like a damn 5th grader who's spilled his milk. I don't give a rats ass whether a group of pilots are passing around the joke or if Pat Roberts wrote it. #81. "RE: Want To Go To Mexico"
In response to _Chewy_ (Reply # 70)

I was knocked off line for over 8 hours. I didn't get a chance to read that part of the thread until now.

Is the name calling really necessary? I'm trying to be civil.

I deleted the joke and locked the thread about 15 minutes before I saw the PM from giseuda. I hope that clears it up. When I did see his PM I responded with one word, "Done!". This probably gave him the impression that I had done it in response to his request. I think we should let this issue die. I think giseuda just used poor judgment, but that doesn't make him a racist. That is why I locked the thread, so it would not be beaten to death.

The fact you had to explain that is ridiculous.

Actually I find some of the posts made in the last 2-3 days much more offensive than the jokes.

Examples:

“And, forgive me, but if you have read far worse offensive stuff you must be visiting some major shitholes.”

“Relax, cracker, I'm off your ignorant back.”

“I love the way you come riding in on your little white (donkey's) ass.”

“What pitiful little lives you must lead.”

“Everytime you open that gape of yours, that brown excrement comes out and you start to show your true colors Myk.”

“James was right after all, you are an ignorant and an arrogant ass.”

Gosh! You people have resorted to schoolyard rhetoric like a bunch of teenagers trying to “one up” the other.

Moderators, please lock, or better yet, remove this thread.

Wonderful... It heartens me to know that you find some heated but bloodless trash talk more offensive than a "joke" which probably had its conception at a Klan meeting.

I almost feel honored to have scored two out of six on your personal "offensive" scale.

Now, that's really offensive. I'm not a Klansman nor have I ever been to a Klan meeting. I'm not even married to a white girl.

I posted that joke after reading so many jokes about polish, italians, blondes and jews in this forum. Give me a break! I asked Shelly to pull my joke after I saw a couple of complaints coming.

Why do you want to keep this stuff up? Just for arguments sake?

I said the "joke" probably had its conception at a Klan meeting. How it filtered down through you, and why you chose to publish it, I may only assume.

I agree that we see too many posts that resort to language having no place in a discussion among intelligent people. It serves no one, including the poster that uses it, to support a dissenting opinion. It marks the person as lacking the intellectual tools to argue a point when they resort to language more at home on a bars bathroom walls.

There is nothing surprising in any discussion to find some strong disagreement from some quarters. We have always had our share of trolls and outright fools posting here with the intention of stirring up dissent. I can tell you that the moderators are not here to become censors, or strangle free speech that we might happen to not agree with. We will not remove threads or posts unless they really cross the line of taste or legality. You all know the restraint we practice, few posts have ever been removed. We will also be reluctant to remove threads that have already been replied to with thoughtful answers.

The late Richard Feynman, the brilliant physicist, once said that "if you can't explain a physics concept to a freshman physics class, you don't understand it". With the same logic If you can't put forward your dissenting views without resorting to the gutter language of the ignorant, you will only prove to your audience that you are ignorant. The only harm you will do is to yourself.

I've read the locked thread. Shelly has no comment in that thread that's available to me.
