Copernic, an excellent search engine that simultaneously searches several search engines, accurate, fast ^& has it's own browser should you require it & it also auto updates itself.

EDIT
WWW.Copernic.com freeware, unless you want a small advert turned off.

I have several programs that I like to run ...
AdAware - of course the best program around - http://www.lavasoft.nu/
PowerDefrag (Free Version)- which allows me to batch defrag all 4 hard drives (still looking for a program to batch scandisk the drives, lol) - http://www.powerdefrag.com/
ClipBoard Magic - allows multiple clipboard entries - http://www.cyber-matrix.com/clipmag.htm
EPrompter - which allows me and the kids to pick up mail from ALL our yahoo (and other) email accounts without having to sign in multiple times - http://www.eprompter.com/
MaxLister - lists the entire contents of a drive or a
directory into a single file - http://www.acc.umu.se/~max/maxlister/index.html
SpyBlocker 4.75 (which was the last freeware version) - blocks Ads, cookies, web bugs and more - http://personal.atl.bellsouth.net/mia/k/r/kryp/sb.htm
TClockEX - allows setup of personalized clock/date/time - http://users.mweb.co.za/d/da/dalen/tclockex.htm

All of these programs are freeware, and none of them take up a lot of space or system resources (I don't have much of EITHER, lol).

One neat little program that comes to my mind is "Volume Tray"
http://glorysoft.omsk.ru/volumetray.html
I use the hotkeys,Ctrl+Alt,Up/Down for volume and End for mute !
I just wish it could work in XP,works in 9x only.

Nice to see Copernic get a mention.. great program for sure!

I would have to say that the best free program i have ever used is Infanveiw.

Best pay program would have to be my little XING audio package. Has a great ripper for MP3 and the player is loads better than Winamp.

Info Select ver. 6 http://www.miclog.com/

Progrm is bloated, pricey, and on line documentation (help) leaves a lot to be desired.

But, I wouldn't be without it.

Usefull everyday programs
-debug.exe
-MS VC++
-Internet Explorer
-Photo Shop
-Web Express

almost everyday use, very usefull apps:

-Drive Image
-Partition Magic
-AutoCAD 2000 - great for making 3D desktop backgrounds and other stuff
-dBpowerAMP Music Converter

And many more. Instead of providing links for all of them, I have almost every software that I use on my ftp server. (it did offend, so it was removed ) Everytime I download something, I just save it in my folder, which is part of my shared folder for everything like winmx.

No you can't(TM)

I have to ad that XP pro is a must have OS. It took me some time to come around to it but it really is nice. I discover new things about it all the time. It really is pretty much the best OS to run in my opinion.

adobe photoshop for graphics
and Dungeon Siege for a game

Besides those mentioned already I use Karen's Replicator to backup all my important data files to an outside source. Very user friendly. You choose what to backup and when

I can't believe I'm the only one that gets all those annoying, redundant, generally unnecessary confirmation windows, and has done something about them. I wouldn't be without PTFB - "Push the Freakin' Button". It's not listed to work with XP - though it might. If it doesn't, it looks like I'll have Win 98 forever. LOL.

Jim.

#49. "Cleanup"
In response to dmx11523 (Reply # 0)

This is not a software program but I use it every time before shutting down my computers.
I put shortcuts to all three in a folder called cleanup. I made a shortcut to the folder and put the shortcut in C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\CleanUp.
Folders.bat
Reg.reg
Made a Shortcut to Control Panel Internet Options and Placed that in the Cleanup folder Clear History Button- Delete Files Button and add a Check in Box Settings- View Files and Delete all. Will have to Put Shortcut on Desktop then move it from there into Cleanup Folder. Win98se
I’m sure there is a software program for this. But what fun is that.
Reg.txt
REGEDIT4
<-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentFileList>
<-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nico Mak Computing\WinZip\filemenu>

If I am doing something wrong with the above Please someone let me know.

It's not a tool, but I really enjoy it just the same. It's Screensaver that displays thousands of quotes, some are profound and some are really hilarious. I have had it on my computer for over a year now, and I still don't think I've seen them all. It's freeware too!
