Windows 7 finally died. I liked Microsoft Picture It. it suited my needs. Now I need something for Windows 10. I've seen a couple of lists for photo editors, but I'm not sure about them. My needs aren't huge; mostly cropping, brightening, joining photos together on a page, etc. I don't want something that has all the "bells and whistles"; which I'd never use.

Irfanview would probably fill your needs, though there is a somewhat steep learning curve for some users. And it probably has more capability than what you need, but you wouldn't have to use them for your needs. It's free. https://www.irfanview.com/
I still use Picture It! 99 version 3.0 on Windows 10. It is a bit fragile i.e. it crashes now and again (it never did on Windows 7) so keep doing a save now and then just in case. I used it recently to do some cloning without a hitch. I also use Irfanview with all the plugins. Select Edit > Show Paint Dialog for more options.
Thanks Jim. You're not kidding about the learning curve. I'm having trouble trying to crop a photo. Checked Google, got: go to edit, select size ????. With Picture It I'd go to the tool bar select the cropping tool
