"Attachment issue"
Sat Apr-30-22 07:10 PM by lenjack

W10, all updates, Thunderbird email.

Until today, I was able to open attachments, simply by clicking on them.

Today, when I click on one, it asked me to save it, which I did, but I don't know where it went. I get a list of downloads, and other files. If I click on one, it tells me it already exists. What have I messed up. I just want to open it, by just clicking on it, as I did before.

When I tried this, after clicking on tools, I do not get a listing for options. I get

address book
addons and themes
activity manager
message filters
import
openpgp key manager
developer tool
clear recent history
account settings

There is no listing for options

I have version 91.8.1

More info. If I go to view, one of the options is
display attachments inline, which is checked

Okay, I think I finally found what you're looking for.

- Click Tools - Preferences.
- Make sure you are on General in the left column.
- Scroll down to Files & Attachments.
- There you can choose what to do with different file types and whether to save to a default location or not.

Behind every good computer... is a jumble of wires 'n stuff.

It is checked the way I want it, which is to open by clicking on it.

UPDATE...The problem disappeared. Attachments now open with no issues. It was only one attachment, that exhibited this problem, and I suspect, it was sent improperly by someone inexperienced.
