"Firefox Webshield"

Just got a popup for Firefox Webshield. Is it worth a download?

I'm currently using AVG Internet Security which has blocked a number of intrusions.

A quick search with google and DuckDuckGo came up empty. It may be a browser extension or something, but I’d wait until more is known.

The BIG RED FLAG here is that you got a popup for it! If they have to advertise it with a popup, it's probably not worth having, not legitimate, or not safe. My Google search showed a Firefox Add-on called Webshield from TotalAV which is a questionable product on it's own.

Thanks Martin, Webshield will have to wait.

I found the following reviews of Webshield at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/total-webshield/reviews/

Having issues with the "real-time protection" when opening the icon. Get an error message and to reboot but after 3 days of doing this, nothing changes. Hopefully they have a money-back policy!

12-09-21: After installing the Total Webshield extension, I was not able to log onto online banking for Bank of America and Capital One. I removed the Total Webshield extension. Immediately after removing the Total Webshield extension, I was able to log onto online banking for Bank of America and also Capital One with absolutely no issues. Something is wrong with Total Webshield.

I recommend the built-in Windows Security and if you're not comfortable with just that, add a subscription to Malwarebytes. I don't recommend any "security suites" such as Norton360 or whatever McAfee is calling their suite these days.

Thanks, I'm subscribed to Malwarebytes and AVG.
AVG just now stopped what looked like a legitimate post from CVS Pharmacy.

Totally agree. I don't think you can do better. Get the real time version of Malwarebytes. There is also a setting in it, that allows it to integrate with Windows Security.
