"Well, progress"

I put in new 500g SSD, it is running, Boot order all fixed, Everything saying I am good. It still takes 2 min. to boot! Goes to black screen for well over a minute. I am reading, doing everything I can and nothing helps. ANY thoughts at all?? I am stumped.I do all of the usual things to speed up that has been done for years, start up, etc . Only using ccleaner, Superantispyware, Antimalwarebyes. No Avast. I take all you guys have put out there for yrs and still SLOW>>>>>

Maybe Windows Defender is doing a boot up scan.

Or SuperAntiSpyware or one of the others. In SuperAnti, click on System Tools>Preferences and check "Do not scan at Start Up".

Jim.

I will check those now, Nope, Sas not scanning at startup. Windows defender settings same as before I installed new SSD. Iam seriously reading for hours to find it, and nothing works.

If you have the Premium Malwarebytes, start up can be delayed. The setting is located in Preferences>Protection>Start Up options.

Ok, let me see if I can make this make sense. I installed win 10 in UEFI secure boot off using a micro Sd in a USB adaptor. Works PERFECTLY after 2 minute boot . HOW do I get the actual order of the boot options to show up? It does NOT when using F2 or F12. Must I turn on Legacy mode to get the options? Make sure it is my SSD and then go back to UEFI??

Ok, i think i got this answered. Have to be in Legacy mode to see boot options that I can change. As i am UEFI, it makes that choice, thus has nothing to do with is going on.

Did you do the 1803 update? If you did, that might be something to look at. If I remember correctly that was mixed up in your install timeline. If you uninstall it and it helps make sure to do a restore point before you reinstall it. I had some other thoughts but I just got out of the Hospital for a knee replacement and the medication might be messing with my mind.

Boot computer in Safe Mode?
Any difference?

---

I would look at hardware.
Disconnect all ancillary hardware.

USB drives, printers, all HDD except your SSD, floppy & CD drives, use only 1 stick of RAM...

Newegg.com's new image gallery layout sucks in the hugest way imaginable too !
And now they're using JavaScript to "turn" pages to boot ! SUCKS

I did a reset and all seems ok now. Cold boot is immediate. Restart not as slow. Just going to take it and be happy.
