"Error 500"

Recently (since v1803 anyway) every time I do a search and try to load the page I want I keep getting the following message:
www.pcqanda.com is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500
I also get the same message on my Win7. I can find what I need in the forum but can't load the page(s), even on the most recent posts. I tried in the same tab or a new tab but no go. What is Error 500? What have I done to offend it?

I haven't seen "Error 500" but try this: Open either actual forum, Find the View line then click on Collapse Topics. "Expand Topics" will be listed on the lne when the Topics are collapsed.

That's it, you should now be able to read topics from the Search results. This also fixes some other minor Forum issues.

Jim.

Not quite, KJT. If I collapse then expand the topics before the search then I just get the same error msg (see attachment). If I do the search first, it shows the results already in collapsed mode and clicking on any of them just brings up the error msg. And the results page doesn't offer the expand/collapse options.

Don't expand the topics. Just Collapse them. Then, do your search.

Your line in either/both forums should look like this when it is set correctly:

Quote:
Choose classic view | Expand topics | View in linear mode | Listing topics
You only need to set it in one of the forums and it is applied to both.

Jim.

Edit: No, the results page doesn't show Expand/Collapse. Go to either actual Forum to see the settings line and make the change to collapsed.

Thanks Jim, that worked - for now, but it was just after starting my computer. Will watch it for a while, especially after using the browser a bit.

Recently (since v1803 anyway)... I also get the same message on my Win7

Then it has nothing to do with 1803, Win10 (or Win7), particularly.

What browser? (Is that Opera?)
When it happens, if you try a different browser, do you get the same message?

Yes, Opera - I used to have Firefox as my default but it's hopeless now, I get 2-3 Firefoxes in my taskbar - but I also get the same msg in Google and even in Edge. However, when I reboot (the only thing that works) I can usually access the page.

When I post I also get the 500 msg and have to get onto PCQ&A from scratch.
