"BitDefender problem"

Since before Xmas, every time I shut down or restart my computer (Win10 and updated), I keep getting the message (see attachment) although I have never used or even downloaded BitDefender.

Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of this message from appearing and speeding up the shutdown or restart? Thank you.

This came up a few weeks ago in a previous post. If you search, you'll find it.

I've found several topics with BitDefender but PCQ&A won't let me see any of them. Would you mind letting me know if there is a solution?

I don't know why you can't see them. Do a search for

"Warning from non-existent Bitdefender?"

From working on a Win 7 computer recently I got that error after running a spyware clean up program. I was able to fix the problem by putting all the quarantined items back on the computer. The computer was running Microsoft Security Essentials so I believe it uses BitDefender components. That would leave all Windows 10 computers vulnerable to the same problem because Defender (Security Essentials) is built into Win 10. If that is the case and you are running Windows 10 an upgrade within Windows to the latest Windows 10 of your type should fix the problem.

I've updated to V1804 but it didn't fix this problem. I'm also getting it on my Win7.
