"Fillable Forms"

This same person has asked me to build a fillable form. I used Open Office Database to construct the form. One option is to export the file as a PDF. This works but filling the PDF form does not present the data the way I would expect. For instance, one field is for a Time entry. The database has this field defined as 'Time' with AM/PM designations. When it exports to the PDF the attributes for time are removed. Any numbers can be entered in this location.

I am looking for an alternative application that will allow defined entry, print, save and email capability.
I see pdfilleran has a Google extension but it seems dependent on an existing document.

This is my first attempt at building a form.

Suggestions are greatly accepted.

Thanks,

Dan K

I don't think that Open Office Database is the right application to create a fillable PDF form.

Here's some instructions on using Open Office Writer. It doesn't seem to have an option for fields formatted for time or date, but it looks like you can make custom lists of field entries which should allow you to do time and date in the formats you choose.

Some other suggestions from a Google search.

Just to increase my knowledge, I purchased a textbook on "Building Web Pages" using HTML. Looking at some of the examples in the book and piecing together some 'other' commands I was able to construct a form without using CSS.
It was not the most elegant but very useful. A friend had some knowledge of HTML and also had a code generator application that produced code from drag and drop screen shots. My original code and his tweaking produced a very acceptable fillable form.
A little extra investigating and a button was added to Print the filled out form. Only took about 4 hours from scratch to complete the task.
One thing I did learn was that each browser has their own quirks. Such as, basic Edge does not have a 'File Open' function whereas Firefox does. Also some code reacts differently on each browser. This is pointed out in the text book.

I guess you are never to old to learn a new coding language.

Regards,

Dan K
