"Very Slow Boot Time"

Have Win 10 Home 1607.

My boot time is very slow, 1.40minutes.

I ran SFC Scan and no corrupt files. Only have 2 audio file and
Classic start menu in start up files.

Prior to Win10, had Win 8.1 which booted in 28 seconds. Unless I have some outdated drivers, I simply do not know what is causing this.

Will appreciate any suggestions.

Right click the taskbar, then task manager, then the Startup tab to see a list of high impact startup programs that may be slowing your boot up time..

Maybe you have something such as Defender or SuperAntiSpyware, or Malwarebytes set to scan at boot.

Jim.

I did that and the only programs booting are the 2 computer audio files and the Classic Start Menu.

This morning the time was 1.06, a slight improvement.

Task Manager does not show it but Unhackme appears on the taskbar after boot. I hate to remove it because it is one of those Giveaway editions that I won't be able to re-install. If it is causing the slow boot I will do without.

Have you considered doing what I think most of us do, which is to put your computer to sleep (or hibernate) instead of shutting it down?

In theory at least, there's less wear and tear on your computer, with near instantaneous functionality, while still saving electricity.

Jim.

Edit: If you have cats, they're likely to wake your computer by walking on the keyboard or moving the mouse from sleep mode.

This is news to me. Will consider it if I can't speed up the boot time.

I removed Unhackme and it made a huge difference. Now it boots in .34 and .31. Tried 2 boots.

Thanks, suppose my problem is solved.

Removing Unhackme may leave residue.

Check C:\Program Files (x86)\UnHackMe. If it's there, remove it and run CCleaner's registry cleaner

or go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Compatibility Assistant\Store in the Registry to remove entries manually.

Jim.
