I have two laptops, a fairly new Toshiba AMD A10, 1TB HDD, 12GB RAM running Insider Program Windows 10 pro and an older ASUS laptop with lower specs running Windows 10 Home edition both running wireless on my home network. The ASUS download speed is about 29 GBPS. The Satellite broadband speed is about 2.8 GBPS - 10% of the other laptop broadband speed. Can't figure out where the problem is. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Lots of possible reasons. When was your home built and what type of router do you have? The reason I ask those questions is that homes built in the 50's and some in the early 60's were not very friendly with wireless signals especially the two layer wall board and it's worse with higher frequency wireless. It could be a bad adapter. How is the speed in the room with your router.
The first question would be are the laptops in the same general area when comparing download speeds?Signal strength the same?So many variables that you would need to compare with them side by side close to the router to really start diagnosing.
