This is the first time I have had a problem with a HP printer that I can't figure out. I lost my link to the software that Is used to compile multiple scanned pages into a single PDF file. I have always been able to fix it by reinstalling the software, but this time I get a permissions error for the installer file in Program Data. I have tried everything I can think of including removing everything HP with Revo Uninstaller, reinstalling Win 10 Pro 64, temporarily disabling the firewall and I still get a failure to install. Win 10 finds and installs the printer just fine and I can manually communicate with the scanner but can never get to the point of installing the software I need or the fax setup if I wanted it. Any ideas would be appreciated. One thing I did discover on this journey is if you are having trouble with shutdown in Win 10, disable fast startup. Some genius figured if they used partial hibernation they could get the computer to start faster. I can't think of an easier way to corrupt files and cause a problem. It's in power settings under Power Options, Choose what power buttons do, uncheck fast startup. You won't miss it unless you have an under powered computer and it clears up shutdown problems after the first restart.

Same here although I have an hp printer never encountered that one. The only thing I got is try right click run as administrator. Edit: something changed around here I can edit without getting the blank page after posting it.
Sorry, just getting frustrated with the printer. I hate to think I might have to pay HP to fix their software mess. I've tried running the installer as an administrator, taken ownership of all the file paths leading to the installer in Program Data per the error message and tried a new profile. I really don't know what to do and am afraid a new printer might have the same problem.
Did you try posting a question on the HP forums I just did a few days ago and got a response from an actual employee. It was about a laptop not sure about how they are for printer stuff.

I finally called HP for support and I must say even though the printer was out of warranty they were willing to fix it without charge. Nice but they were unable to fix the problem after many hours and decided it was Windows 10. They did just about everything imaginable to fix it. I had already checked out Windows 10 and knew that wasn't the likely culprit. I decided to hunt down everything HP and destroy it again. This time besides Program Data, Application Data, Local I checked out Program files and found entries in Program Files and Program Files (x86). There wasn't much left in there but I deleted them anyway, restarted and tried the install again for one last time. INSTALLED FLAWLESSLY Thanks for the replies, it got me thinking in a different direction again.
