"Unique Anti-Virus: VoodooShield"

Just wanted to alert folks to an excellent security product that I recently discovered even though it has been around for a few years. It took me about 20 minutes to wrap my mind around it, then it really did become simple. The product is an antivirus called VoodooShield: https://voodooshield.com/ What makes it different is that it works on a white list as opposed to a black list which is what all other antiViruses use.

This product is greatly admired by the folks at https://www.wilderssecurity.com/ and the developer spends much time at Wilders every day to answer any questions. I have read several reviews on the Internet about this product, including at least one magazine article, and they all admire it, not one single negative review.

Whether it is because of whitelisting as opposed to blacklisting, or some unique computer coding which I would never understand anyway, this product works just fine with most traditional blacklisting antiViruses and Malwarebytes. I am currently using all three: VoodooShield, my traditional AV, and Malwarebytes, all living in harmony.

There is a free version of VoodooShield, in fact, the developer states that most people will only need the free version. The paid-for, Pro version, is basically for Business/Commercial use. But, if for some reason you want the Pro version, and if you have been a long time member of WildersSecurity, you can PM him and he will send you a free two-year license for the Pro, but to repeat myself, he states that the average PC user would only need the free version anyway. His avatar at Wilders is, guess what, “VS”.

So, if anyone wants another layer of excellent protection or just wants to play, check it out, won’t cost you a cent.

As usual: don’t install any new program without first making a complete backup/recovery of your entire system and KNOW HOW TO RESTORE IT.

Interesting. I'm going to try it for a while. It seems to learn pretty quickly.

Thanks for posting. It sounds kind of like a standalone replacement for the "defense" modules most firewalls and security suites now come with. These things annoy the hell out of me - too complex and intrusive if used safely, seemingly ineffective if you don't (use them aggressively.)

So I turned off mine and ran this now for a day. Finally got a hit (just installing something) and it was much easier to deal with than Comodo's thing. I like the firewall aspect of Comodo though, so this might be the thing I've always wanted but didn't know existed

You're welcome. The creator of this program suggests that you keep your traditional blacklisting AVs installed. Fortunately, VoodooShield is compatible with most, if not all, AVs.

I'm running it with nod32 AV and Comodo software firewall - no problems at all. What I turned off was Comodo's resident exploit thing, they call it "Defense+." I could actually live without AV, but I'm not comforable without a basic software firewall.

Yes, never do anything without being behind a firewall, either hardware or software, or preferably both.

One other thing which many of you probably already know. Since this thing works on the principal of whitelisting it is imperative that you know your system is perfectly clean before installing.

A friend of mine who is a moderator at Wilders Security does malware testing for a couple of companies. He decided to play with VoodooShield just for the fun of it. He tells me that he has not be able to get anything past it and he told me that he has thrown the worst of the worst at it.
