"text and web page appearance on netbook screen"

Somehow, text and web pages have increased in size on my Acer Aspire netbook screen. I have to use the scrollbar at bottom of windows to view stuff on the far left or right of screen. I've used "view" on IE's menu bar; tried to change the display, text size, but nothing changes. How can I fix this? I don't know wgat else to do.

Windows 7 Starter. Control Panels says "Mobile PC Display" and the resolution is 1024 x 600 which is recommended.

Is this just in the browser or are icon text and other things larger as well?

It's just in the browser. As I said, I tried to use "view" on IE's menu bar and select "text size," but nothing changed.

Did you check your Zoom setting under view as well?

I hadn't thought of that. That could've easily happened. With one hand crippled by the stroke and a touchpad that executes actions even when I don't want it to....yep, that could be it.

Yes. Would you believe I had to retype my original post TWICE b/c the spastic hand zigged when it should've zagged and off the text went into cyber oblivion.

Using a regular mouse isn't really practical since I'm rarely sitting at a desk when using the netbook. I don't even know if there's a PS/2 port on it. I haven't looked.

"Regular" mice are almost all USB now

And yes it's doubtful there's a PS/2 port on it.

Have you stopped it sensing taps? The first thing I do with a laptop is stop the touchpad sensing taps; that sends me crazy as well.

I do the same thing. Having the touchpad react to taps is like having the mouse click on something everytime you move it.

Well. I'm so used to tapping, I can't execute with the buttons. I havea friend who just has one hand, and she disabled tapping. Drives me nuts if I use her computer,

What does having two hands have to do with making it more difficult with tapping off? I have two hands and only use one hand on the touch pad. I use my middle finger on the pad and my thumb on the button. It just drives me nuts to have things getting clicked all the time simply because I'm moving my finger around on the touch pad. But of course to each his own, that's why it can be disabled

Some computer maker--forget who--makes a laptop that has something called "palm guard" or something like that. It's supposed to prevent stray contact from hands executing actions.

And having one or two hands doesn't really have anything to do with a touchpad. My one-handed friend probably just touches her touchpad accidentally enough times that she grew to dislike the tapping feature,
