"MS updates fail"

Hi Folks -

I have tried several times to DL and install two MS updates (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit) - KB2596744 and KB2596786. Has anyone else had these updates fail to install?

Eric

i'm at work and I don't have a W7 64 bit machine here. I can check when I go home for you, but i have found that a defective download of a Windows update can prevent a new download of that update from installing.

Run a search for those updates and delete all that you find, then download them again and see if they will now install.

They both installed fine here last Wednesday. They're both MS Office updates by the way. Do what Shelly said.

Another option to get the needed files is to manual download them directly from Microsoft.

Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites (KB2596744):

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30309

Security Update for Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 (KB2596786):

How do I delete these two update files that have already been downloaded? Windows update will install security definitions for MSE but these two updates still give me error # 80070641. I have tried every fix for this error to no avail.

Simply run a Windows search for the two update mumbers, and delete all the search results for each from the search window.

THanks Shelly. Treid that, and everything else I could think of without any success. Finally restored from an image and all is well now.
