Hi all,
It's that time of year. Time for the (Semi) Annual Fundraiser. As you may or may not know, a site such as PCQandA requires a lot of money to run. Hosting alone runs us approximately $370 per month. Overall, we need about $4,500 per year to operate. Advertising such as the Google ads bring in some money, but not nearly enough to keep the site afloat. We'll have another fundraiser in half a year's time to split the goal in half. So we're looking to raise $2,500.
If you'd rather send a check or a money order (in US Dollars -- sorry, but we can't accept International Money Orders at this time), make it out to Jason Levine and send it to:

Be sure to include your e-mail address in a note along with the check/money order so we can thank you. (PCQandA screen names would be nice also in case the e-mail doesn't go through for some reason.)
Curious just how close we are to our goal? Check out http://www.pcqanda.com/fundraiser.php for the most up-to-date figure. (Payments are added to the total manually, so don't expect the figure to update the minute you make a payment.)
As of now, we've raised just under $970. I've sent Thank You e-mails to everyone who has contributed so far. If you haven't gotten one, please let me know. (It might be that I have the wrong e-mail for you or that your mailed donation hasn't arrived yet.)
To everyone who hasn't contributed, please chip in! Every little bit helps. Let's see how fast we can fill that fundraiser bar.
We've collected over $1,400 now and are past the halfway point. If you've already donated, thank you. A thank you e-mail should have already been sent. If you didn't get one, let me know. (If you mistakenly got two, there was a batch that I couldn't remember whether or not I had sent, so I resent them to be safe.)

Hi Chari,
I sent your e-mail out. It's possible that it got caught in a spam filter or sent to an old e-mail address. If you would like, you can send me an e-mail (jason at pcqanda dot com) and I'll confirm that the address from your Paypal donation came from the same e-mail address.
Currently, we are at 63% of our goal with only $923.48 to go. However, donations have been slowing down to a crawl. I know this is a busy time of year, but if everyone could donate even a little bit, it would help push us over the goal line. Let's smash that goal, everyone!!!
I'll follow the Mickster with another donation. It would be nice if some of the several hundred who never donate no matter what their financial situation would help out this time. You people are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

When I get a full paycheck on the 28th, I will make another donation but right now I can't. After the holidays, my checks are half of a full one due to the pay periods being two weeks . The sheriff's office broke up the pay period so we wouldn't go a whole month before getting another check. The check I will get in two days only has 4 days on it due to a day out the kids had from school. I do not get paid for school holidays that the kids get off. Julia, your generosity is wonderful, but please don't feel obligated to make additional donations because some want a free ride.
This fund drive has lasted far too long already and I am getting weary of having to beg every drive for participation by those who just freeload on the generosity of others.
We broke the fond raising into twice a year to make it easier for the membership. We seek $2500 each fund drive because that gives us six months of expenses plus a small cushion. At last update we have collected enough to cover about four months of operation. Unless more members see fit to preserve this site we may as well just Shut it down when the money runs out. Some will just not appreciate what they have until its gone for good. I for one do not feel right asking a few to give more than their fair share to keep this place running. I resurrected it once, I will not bother a second time.

Shelly, I feel like this forum is like family, any way I can help it survive, I will. Any time I had had a computer problem, I can come here and get help that other wise I would have to pay for here in Lakeland. There are lots of places here but they would charge me an outrageous fee just for giving advice. So anything I can to do to keep this forum up and running, I will donate. Wish I could give more than I had... right now I'm on an exceptionally tight budget, which I incidentally have put myself into through no one's fault but my own.

Wakko, I know what you mean. My hubby and I are a very limited budget but I mamage to save a little out of each paycheck until I have several dollars worth of change and then I use that change for my donation. I would gladly pay 12.00 every year to have this forum membership. I get another paycheck on the 28th and at that point I will make another donation of 10.00. Combining that with the amount I made earlier, it means I have or will give more than 12.00

That's Wonderful, In my case there are some Fundraisers I blow off and Give enough to cover those times when I do. I like being able to pay in a more flexible manner due to the nature of how my business tends to go. I hate to say it but when I was drinking I blew off a lot of payments to a lot of things. I am very lucky I still have a business.

Lee That is FANTASTIC !! I am sure anybody that reads this is deeply grateful for your generosity. We all owe you a really big "High Five" It's people like you that makes me keep coming back. Jason I realize there is no set amount to pay but what amount would you consider to be paying one's fair share? There are no guidelines posted. I wish there were. I gave $20.00 and don't know if that is fair or not enough. I would like to see a minimum amount suggested. Some will pay more knowing that there are those that won't pay anything. Thanks

That is a very good suggestion. I have no Idea but I would think most donate between $20 and $100. Like everything in my life I am a middle of the Road kind of guy and gave $50. If they need more I will send more.
$20 is good, $30 is better, $50 is even better yet and for $100 Grogan will fly to your house and kiss your BUTT!!

We have never specified an amount. To some members $2.00 represents in their financial position what $100.00 would be to someone else. Both contribution amounts are welcomed, that $2.00 gift may have been a hardship to the giver, especially in this recession.
If one can afford a larger contribution is up to their discretion, but everything helps keep us here.

Jason is waiting for any straggler donations to reach the P.O. Box before making a final report. The drive began officially on November 5th and we crossed the finish line on January 28th just a week short of 3 months. Thanks to everyone who helped Preserve this oasis on the internet, and showing once again that you care. We can start all over again in October.

It has taken nearly 3 months to acquire funding for 6 months. It seems to me that the next fundraiser will start in just over 3 months time - or said another way, 6 months from November 5th which is May 5th.

You might be right. We got into trouble this time because we waited until November to start the drive, thereby conflicting with the holiday season.
Since we were a few months late with the just completed drive, we might make it until about July or August, and have a drive with a smaller goal, but that would again push us into the holiday season again for the following one.
