During the past few days, the "back" button on my mouse won't go to the previous page in IE8. The "back" arrow also goes nowhere. In checking the dropdown list a few url addresses appear. A sample follows:
This is what appears to be preventing the back functions to return to the previous page. It somehow shows up between the last page I went to and the page I came from. I checked mouse settings and the mouse is correctly configured. Any ideas?

What were the first & last URLs?
Suppose you could use a drop-down to do a 2-step back, backing over the dead URL?
There were reports in Firefox, I believe it was with Wall Street Journal, where some would go forward, forward, forward, but then weren't able to go back.

I should have mentioned that I'm using IE8 and I can use the drop-down list to return to the previous url. The urls blocking the back function invariably include text which refers to ads and/or adserv which would suggest that the page I'm actually visiting is causing the problem as a result of ads on their page.
