It's that time of year. Time for the (Semi) Annual Fundraiser. As you may or may not know, a site such as PCQandA requires a lot of money to run. Hosting alone runs us approximately $370 per month. Overall, we need about $4,500 per year to operate. Advertising such as the Google ads above and the Commissioned Links below that bring in some money, but not nearly enough to keep the site afloat. We figure that we need about $4,000 more to keep the site afloat. We'll have another fundraiser in half a year's time to split the goal in half. So we're looking to raise $2,000.

As others have said, that's not me. There are a lot of Jason Levine's online. In fact, if you search for "Jason Levine" (with quotes) on Google, you need to go down 6 entries to find one that's mine. Let's see. It's now 37 days into this program and it's stuck again, short of the desired total. I wonder how many have visited the site during this period of time and have totally ignored this request for help once again.

Come on people, you can use the site and get the best advice on the internet, but if you don't support it, it won't last forever.

That was as of the 19th. There may still be some more in the PO Box. but probably not nearly enough to reach the $2000 goal.

There is nothing complicated about fund raising efforts. PCQandA will be here as long as we can pay our bills, but not a day longer. Unfortunately, not everyone cares. It costs about $4000 a year to keep this site alive. We have two fund drives a year to raise the money.

Many are unable to spare even a few dollars, and that we can easily understand, especially in a tough economy. But far too many will not lift a finger to finance the site even though they can afford to contribute, and prefer to allow a small minority carry the water for them, but they don't mind freeloading.

When PC911 died, a group of us brought it back from the dead as PCQandA. As long as we have enough members who care, we will be found here, but one day you could click on www.PCQandA and find no such address. Resurrections should not be expected to happen twice.

I get just over 13.5K registered users looking at the profiles page. I know a few are multiple accounts for people who'd been locked out or what not, but considering that even 60% of these account were unique (8K users)... If everyone would donate $.50, they'd have their costs covered.

Now granted it probably cost them more money to collect just $.50 from anyone but the math isn't that hard. Even if you can only send $1, its still $1 more than they had before.

This site is very important to me. I've learned everything I know of computers here. I would miss it, especially when I have a problem!
To think of all the money I've saved fixing and building computers myself with all your help!
That's why I've sent an additional payment and challenge others to do the same.

As soon as I get paid this Friday , I will be making a donation. I had to wait till after I got all my Christmas shopping done . Thankfully I will have it all done this week. Th majority of it was done earlier and I have just one person left to get a gift for. She is so picky in her tastes , that I have to have her with me and tell her the money limit I place on the gift. Then if she isn't satisfied with her gift, she has only herself to blame since she picks it out. I know that I can't make a big donation but I know every little payment helps with the total.

Not actually stuck, just not updated, due to bad weather in Jason's city precluding a post office trip. Fortunately, our members display generosity that most websites only dream of. These are difficult times, and you would not know it from the way our members the world over have again responded.

Another reason why PayPal is the best way. The nominal charge beats the hell out of going to the post office, the bank, the cost of the money order, the stamp, my time, etc...

The holiday (and both Noah and Jacob getting sick) caused me to slack off on the updates a bit. We're at $1,754.35 now with about $100 in mailed donations that I need to add into the tally. That means that we're within $150 of our goal.

Come on, everyone! Let's get over the goal line. Remember, even small donations add up. There were 172 people who posted to PCQandA two or more times in the last month. Of those posters, only about 70 have donated. If each of the remaining people donated a mere $2, we would more than hit our goal.

Checks are better in that we get all of the money, however Paypal makes it very convenient to send money. For the service they provide, they are very reasonable.

I have just sent in $51.80 via Paypal to give Jason another $50.

I dare any two other forum members to match me, or four of you to go 50/50 on my pay @ $26.06!

Or even still... 10 of you to pay $10.61.

Reading most of your forum since 98 PC911, followed your struggles to save it to present
(forgive wet eyes and sentimentality as remaining few virtues of 74y old ChemEng`s brain).
Like other new members I have learned a lot and greatly appreciate the depth of knowledge, diversity of background and convictions, cooperation, fortitude, humor, wit and kindness of your group (and I followed other groups).
I feel personally knowing many of you through your contributions and interchanges over the years, but found it difficult to step out of anonymity for many reasons.
