An alternative (untested):

"QT Lite 1.1.0"

I have to have iTunes, so I'm stuck with Quicktime bloat.

You don't have to be. I have iTunes but use QT Lite. Whenever there is an iTunes update I install it, then uninstall Quicktime that comes bundled with it and install QT Alternative or Lite.

I never use quicktime so it's really not that big of a deal for me.

Thanks for the tip though, it's defintely something to keep in mind in the future.

I think you mentioned in another thread that you don't have an ipod or itunes, so how do you know all this stuff?

I read the posts here .

And I know enough people with iTunes/iPods that I need to have some sort of vague knowledge as to what its about.

And its hard to get someone to switch from what they use (even if it is crappy & bloat) to an alternative - alternatives which do exist for iTunes.

I did used to use QuickTime for its (Mozilla) browser plugin but it was buggy enough, & Flash is so much more prevalent these days, that QuickTime is no longer worth it for me.
