"How Do I Remove An Entry From Add/Remove When........"

I did the Adobe Update and it went bad. It gave me some error so I decided to remove it and start new. The add/remove couldn't find something or the other so I just deleted the folder after having to use Unlocker because it had something attached to explorer. I then went in to the registry to the location of the uninstalls and it is not listed there but remains in the add/remove panel. I deleted everything in the registry having Adobe but it still remains. I used the registry cleaner called Reg Seeker and it still remained after that. I used google and got Microsoft's way but that is not listed in add/remove to remove it. I disable system restore as that is a joke to begin with. This is no big deal I just want to know where else to look to get rid of that entry. Thanks.

Try the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.

Read instructions carefully and only remove Adobe Reader. Hopefully, that will fix your problem and you can then reinstall Adobe Reader.

I don't know if this will help, but two places I usually go:

HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows\Current Version\GrpConv\Map Groups.

Jeff, The Free download of Add-Remove Pro should get rid of that entry.

After you get rid of Adobe Reader, instead of re-installing it, try using the free Fox-it reader. It is also much more compact and faster to open. Great free program.

Get it here: www.foxitsoftware.com.

Two tiny, excellent programs to try.
Either should be able to delete that rogue entry.
Both are excellent replacements for Windows Add or Remove Programs util.

Safarp is a small and fast alternative to the Add or Remove Programs Control Panel applet of Windows 2000/XP. It displays a list of the installed programs and allows one to uninstall / repair them.
http://wistinga.online.fr/safarp/

MyUninstaller is an alternative utility to the standard Add/Remove applet of Windows operating system. It displays the list of all installed application, and allows you to uninstall an application, delete an uninstall entry, and save the list of all installed applications into a text file or HTML file.
MyUninstaller also provides additional information for most installed applications that the standard Add/Remove applet doesn't display: product name, company, version, uninstall string, installation folder and more."
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/myuninst.html

PS: It is highly unlikely that a manual remove of Acrobat would have done a good job of "removing" it from the registry (or even the disk), if that kind of stuff bugs you.

I'll attach a text file of an install report I did on Acrobat Reader 7.05.
(Note that not every entry need necessarily apply to Acrobat, but most will. Also had to ZIP it to get it to fit up here.)

Attachment #1, (zip file)
