Hi,
Running Win XP Home SP 2 on Dell Dimension D4700
Removed NAV earlier this week to allow me to re-install it.
That was fine
The Symantec removal utility also removed Ghost 2003
I re-installed Ghost this evening, but now have an endless loop where Ghost tries to start and fails
I have the option to
Retry Return to Windows Exit to DOS
Exit to DOS takes me to a C: prompt and advises "Type ghreboot to return to Windows" Typing this gives the line that Windows XP Home SP 2 is restarting but it does not return to Windows
Ghost has created an Autoexec.bat file and Config.sys file
These appear to be in a RAM drive as the C: drive shown is only 13mb
Autoexec
@echo off SET PATH=C:\GHOST;C:\ SET PROMPT=To return to Windows, type ghreboot and press Enter.$_$p$g SET TZ=GHO+00:00 if "%CONFIG%" == "WINDOWS" goto WINDOWS MOUSE.COM CD \GHOST GHWRAP.EXE goto EOF

I have come against this one a few times ...
You need to use a 98 boot disk and run FDISK ....
Ghost creates a Virtual partition that it uses to boot from with the boot files to run it on and makes it the "Active" partition ... thus it's the reason it will "Loop" when booting ...
In FDISK make your XP Partition "Active" that way you can go back into XP and partition management and delete the small virtual partition Ghost has made ...

You could try giving it a big cleanup and try again but seeing as though you have ghost already you can also use the floppy disk to boot from and do your backups from there?
That way you avoid the problem happening again as it doesn't create the virtual partition .

Take the Ghost 2003 program out of the installed folder and put it on the partition or drive where you put your images.
Create a startup boot floppy = in my computer right click on the floppy icon, select format and check the startup box.
In the finished floppy enter the drive where you put ghost in the auto exec file, you can add \ghost (eg. F:\ghost)and it will startup automatically. thats the way I do it. Nice and easy and fast.
