"Selling Dimensions 2350 System"
Wed Sep-14-05 07:37 PM by _Chewy_

I'm selling a used Dimensions 2350 desktop with no monitor - just the tower with keyboard & mouse. What do you think would be a fair & reasonable price?

Pent 4 - 2 GHz
256 SD DDR RAM
30 GB Hard Drive
CD-RW (48x)
4 USB (back) + 1 USB (front)
Onboad NIC
Internal modem PCI card
I did a clean install of XP Home with SP 2 installed.
OS updated & patched.
Used system approx 1.5 years old.

Without. But #1) I have a copy (not the original) of a Dell Restore CD XP Home and 2) COA sticker is on the PC case.

You can get anything you want, as long as you can find a willing buyer. I've seen guys at flea markets and computer shows selling AOL CD's

To me it's still a very usable system, although I would up the memory to 512MB. You should be able to get more than $100 for it, but that will depend on finding the right buyer. Try to find someone who needs an upgrade for a PC older than yours, or whose current PC needs major repair or upgrade that would cost more than what you want to sell your's for.

Behind every good computer... is a jumble of wires 'n stuff.

I know someone who sold that same exact system with a 17" monitor 5 months ago for $600.

I offered them $150.

I too have been to flea markets and swap meets where some joke is selling old computers for WAY too much.

Like Shelly said, there is a willing buyer out there that will pay for what you want.

Make good use of it and run Find-a-Drug on it for PCQ&A.

I cleared my cache this morning to ensure I had the latest pricing from Dell.

As of 0845 CDT, Dell is showing few specials. The Dimension 2400 has been raised to $399, and the Dimension 3000 is now much higher. Haven't explored http://www.dell.com/parade just yet or their September catalog.

I suspect your Pentium 4 is a Northwood core, which actually outperforms the $399 Dimension 2400 currently pushed by Dell upon an unsuspecting public.

I think your machine is easily worth $150 and possibly as much as $225 if you upgrade it to 512 megabytes RAM. Add a used CRT monitor and $250 is possible.

It would be good to have the original Dimension 2350 Windows XP installation disk, but if the backup copy works with the COA product key (which may not always be required when installing the OS on a Dell) then that should suffice.

I agree with Ttech's assessment. It is still a very serviceable computer.

Thanks all. Allyn, I originally had in mind between $180-190 before I posted here, so your estimate sounds about right to me. I intend to sell this locally, as I have my own reservations about eBay.
