I installed a kingston valuram in my pentIII 533mhz operating on Win98SE. The computer already had a 128k memory card, I removed this as it was 128k at 100mhz. Around the same time I had a power supply problem and took it to a shop to have it replaced. The computer was registering the 256kram before I took it ito the shop, but only 128k afterwards. I have taken out the card and it is the 256k card, I have tried all three slots on the board, but it still only sees 128k. I also seem to be losing my user resources at an alrming rate, within an hour of booting up I will be down to less than 10percent and often down to 00%. This is only opening perhaps 2 windows of IE and outlook. Even when I shut down programs my resources only come back when I reboot. Any ideas?

I would try another 256MB memory stick, to see if the one you have is defective. I had to go through three sticks of Kingston memory on a friends machine to get a good one. Needless to say, I'm less than thrilled with Kingston quality!
The resources problem is another matter. Something on your machine is running and eating them up. Could you have picked up a virus?

Shelly Thanks, Ihave another memory stick to try(Kingston again)We'll see. I have done a virus check but just with my macafee PGP. A virus sounds possible as my virus check isn't very up to date and the way the resoures are gobbled up. The only other thing I can think of is my IE which since I updated it has not been very reliable. Laura

I know this sounds too simple, but is the module properly seated? SOmetimes you really have to press hard to get it properly seated, it's not unheard of to have to remove the mobo from the case to be able to apply the proper amount of pressure without bending the motherboard.
