"Annual PCQandA Fund-Raiser"

Hi all,

It's that time again. Pools are out, the sun is hot, snow is a distant memory, and PCQandA is asking for your donations.

As you may or may not know, a site such as PCQandA requires a lot of money to run. Hosting alone runs us approximately $300 per month. Overall, we need about $4,000 per year to operate. Advertising such as the Google ads above and the Commissioned Links below that bring in some money, but not nearly enough to keep the site afloat.

We figure that we need another $2,500 more to take us comfortably through to next year at this time. That's where you come in. In the last month alone, over 340 users posted to PCQandA. If each of you donated $10, we would reach our goal with room to spare. (Of course, donations above $10 are more than welcome as are donations less than $10.)

You can donate via Paypal by clicking on the link below:
https://www.paypal.com/xclick/business=jasonlevine%40yahoo.com&item_name=Donation+to+PCQandA.com&item_number=PCQ%26A

If you'd rather send a check or a money order (in US Dollars -- sorry, but we can't accept International Money Orders at this time), make it out to Jason Levine and send it to:

Jason Levine
PO Box 392
Slingerlands, NY 12159

Be sure to include your e-mail address in a note along with the check/money order so we can thank you. (PCQandA screen names would be nice also in case the e-mail doesn't go through for some reason.)

You can also support PCQandA by buying from one of our Commissioned Links, but that won't count towards the fund raiser.

Curious just how close we are to our goal? Check out http://www.pcqanda.com/fundraiser.php for the most up-to-date figure. (Payments are added to the total manually, so don't expect the figure to update the minute you make a payment.)

Thanks in advance,

- Jason Levine
Please donate to PCQandA!

I just added some funds to my PayPal account. It'll take about 3 days to process. Hang tight...it's coming.

Jason, When you say that you can't accept International Money Orders, does that include Canada or just Overseas Money Orders?

I don't use Paypal and would rather not send Cash through the Mail although a check would be OK.

Ken,

I saw your post and asked Jason about it. Here's what he had to say:

As long as the money orders are made out in US Dollars we should be
fine depositing them. However, a money order made out in Canadian
dollars (or Yen, Euros, etc) would not be ok. We apologize for the
inconvenience for our international users, but our bank hits us with
heavy fees for depositing money orders made out to international
currencies. The fees involved can easily exceed the donation amount!

I hope this helps.

I was a bit wary about using PayPal at first what with all the reports on security breaches and fraud. I now have a PayPal account but it normally has no bank account/credit card entries. When I want to pay for something I just add a credit card entry, do the payment, and then immediately delete the credit card entry. Needless to say I don't use it very often but I feel safer doing it this way.

Ok so I've not been around a while, and mostly when I am I lurk, gleaning information ready for the next 'project' or 'crash'. But you guys have always been there when I was up to my nose in the brown stuff and are very much appreciated.

Jason,
As soon as my daughter paysme what she owes me I can send some to help. But the problem is getting her to pay me. I know she got a check in the mail for the child support that her hubby has to pay( state takes it out of his pay before he gets paid, he is a dead beat dad) so I know she has funds to pay me.

This site is awesome. I consider it to be one of the most valuable on the web. I have learned many things by helping others with their problems here, as well as getting answers to my own questions. A special Thank You to the moderators and other regulars who volunteer their time to keep this thing running. I sent via Paypal.

It took me a few days, but I've processed the first of the Paypal and mailed donations. So far we have almost 25% of the donations that we need. (Actually, over 25%, but I'm waiting for 3 Paypal donations to clear so I can see how much Paypal will take in fees.)

Thanks to everyone who's contributed. To anyone who has whose donation hasn't arrived yet, I thank you in advance. To anyone that hasn't contributed yet, don't be shy. Even a few dollars here and there adds up quickly.

--------------------------------------------------------------

You may be entering credit card info instead of entering the amount of the donation you want to make and then sending it. If your credit card is already registered with them, it should then just be charged to that card automatically. This is all assumption since I don't use a credit card with PayPal, I gave them a link to a checking account years ago. If you click on the PCQ&A donation link in Jason's post, and enter the amount and then confirm it when asked, it should go through.

Beats me, your credit card account should be connected to your user name and password. Perhaps someone else who uses a credit card account on PayPal can help you out.

Of course it is registered to an existing PayPal acount (Mine) These fools are asking me for a different Credit Card . When i click on the login button i get the same thing. My mission now will be to try and rid my computer of anything associated with PayPal. My donation in the form of a check will go out today. Thanks to all !

We are not set up to take credit cards. That would cost us a so much in bank fees that there would be nothing left. the choices are PayPal, personal check or money order. THese should be drawn in US Dollars since banks charge heavy to convert foreign payments and small banks will not even convert funds.

There are American Express offices in many major cities around the world that can provide drafts in US currency, also most major banks can provide drafts in US currency. We're sorry that there is so much difficulty for some members, but there is not much choice for us. This is a small time nickle and dime operation run by volunteers in their spare time.

Jason ,
As soon as I get paid by the sherrif's office for the first weeks of crossing duties, I will send a bigger donation. What I sent was only part of what I had planned to send but didn't have the funds. This forum is one I do not mind donating to to keep active.

Jason and All:

I was just looking this over and noticed that my previous post to this totaled 57 posts to date. With the repeats and informational postings I think that there are about 30 posted acknowledging a donation. I certainly hope that they are about 500 more out there who are simply just late as I was in getting mine in. This is my first time being late, so it's entirely possible that others may be also. I'd hate to think that everyone is waiting to hear that the goal is reached and think that the funds still aren't needed. Let's get enough for the next two years, then no one will have to ask next year, although I think that you still should.

I noticed that you have a great little running total graph out there. I'm curious as to how many donators make up that total $$ contribution?

Could you post that also?

This is not meant to make anyone unable to contribute due to personal reasons feel bad, because they are a very SMALL portion of the people who benefit from this site. Besides, I'm sure that those in a tight spot now, will give when they can. If everyone who can contribute shares the load, it's easier all the way around.

Paul

BTW, please remember to send your name, e-mail address, and PCQandA username with your donations. I have a donation here and I don't know who it's from, so I can't properly thank them. Would "Labrinth Design" please identify himself/herself?

We're almost there. (77.9%) Good Work. Looks like we won't have history repeating itself. (The possibility of PCQandA shutting down.)

We are within rock throwing distance of our goal. Many have been generous in helping preserve the site. Just a few more can put us over the top.

Jason,
I'm going to send a bit more tonight via PayPal.

I was thinking today that my A+ course a few years ago cost me around $500. if I remember correctly..

I think I've learned far more by reading Shelly and Grogan's posts (never mind the rest of you geeks) than I ever did in the A+ course; I still owe some money...

Jason:

How about an update. It appears as though we've been stuck on the same number for a week now.

Only two have acknowledged additional support since Shelly's appeal on Aug 2nd. Start beating the drum again if we need to.

Paul

My country is not listed in pay pay and getting a USD check costs more than $5.00 in bank fees, not to mention that I have to go to the central bank to apply for exchange control. But how about mailing a US$10 note?

Hi

Check with your Country's Forex Regulation. It may not permit sending Currency notes by post since the Forex is centrally controlled.Even if it permits,US Postal regulations to be checked.
As regards the Charges,You are Lucky!,it is minimum USD 35 (equivalent Yen) in Japan
for USD draft
