"Can't access IE; WININET.DLL Problem"

Using IE 6.0 with a broadband conn., I'll get the follwing as the page loads:
"Explorer executed an invalid instruction in module WININET.DLL at 017........"
Clicking on it drops the browser. I've searched MS KB, tried repairing Internet Explorer, even restored the registry to 5 days ago and still get the shutdown. Outlook Exp. works fine. Ran Sys File Checker, no problems.
Why Me? :'(
Any help?
Pete

Check this KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q160158 (copy and paste entire address)

If it doesn't apply, do a google search for wininet.dll with "microsoft.com" in the domain name (without quotes) There are 400 plus listings, one of which should apply. Good luck.

Jim.
