"Scanner wont complete OCR process!"

Hi Folks, Another problem has arisen. Using an HP scanner/printer, after scanning a text document the OCR program (Caere OmniPage Lite) stalls saying "an error occurred during recognition. Please be certain that you have enough available disk space and memory before continuing". The pc has 128Mb RAM and 15.2Gb free on the hard disk, and according to the System Properties - Performance window it has 79% resources free. Any suggestions as to how I can fix it? I ran System check and had to reinstall 2 system files from the Win98 CD. Also Defrag took a long, long time to finish but it has not helped.
Any suggestions will be welcomed.
Best wishes for Christmas and 2002 to everyone, Roger

Hi

Did you try here?

http://www.scansoft.com/

I found this link in the support section

Out of Memory or Hard Disk Space Errors

http://help.scansoft.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=72,E=0000000000004686189,K=5789,Sxi=2,Case=obj

Maybe this will help.

Have you checked for updates for your Caere OmniPage Lite?
What about new drivers for the scanner?

Here's a current review of OCR programs I thought you might want to see.

Can you scan the document as a TIF and then do the OCR on the TIF?
