This mouse rocks! I've been eyeing it for the past year or so and due to being unemployed, I wasn't able to afford it until now. To make a long story short, there was a customer service snafu with an order i wanted to place on a different product. When i spoke w/ the manager about it, he gave it to me for FREE to make up for the snafu. I still can't believe my eyes.... this thing is awesome; not to mention the manager was absolutely generous.
Not only that, he gave the keyboard set even though i asked just for the mouse. Bonus. Although i liked my old Natural Keyboard better, i'm sure i'll get used to this one in no time.
For any MX 700 users here, the manual says it needs to be drained and charged 3 times - does anyone know how long one full charge takes?
LOL. Maybe I should have, but I didn't bother reading the manual about charging the batteries. I've charged batteries before.
I got my MX700 in June '03, charged it until its light quit blinking and went out. I have used it with the same NiMH batteries ever since. A popup appears on screen when the batteries need recharged - usually every 2 or 3 days. I haven't timed the recharge, but it only seems to take a couple of hours.

Yeah, i went on logitech's website earlier and downloaded a so called "spec sheet" in pdf format. Pretty lame actually, it just repeated most of the information already printed on the website and didn't say anything about hte charge up time.

I did that earlier tonight when i set it up and used my ps2 mouse while waiting for it to charge up. I figured 30 min was good.
I don't know about you, but i'm totally in love w/ this mouse. It's got a nice heavy weight to it, and the fact you can program all 8 buttons on this baby is just *peachy*. I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve! What about you Jim, what are your thoughts on it?

Jim, the mouseware version that you have must be an older one. I believe I have the latest version 9.79.019. If you look at the screenshot below, you'll notice that double-click is included as one the drop down menu choices. Just out of curiosity, which software version do you have?
I have the same version. Of course it has double-click, it just doesn't have double-click combined together with "Click/Select" available as did my previous mouse. Button #1 - the left mouse click - can be either Click/select or Double-click, but not both at the same time.
I have used the MX700 since shortly after it came out. It's without a doubt the best mouse I have ever used.
I am in the habit of just dropping it into the charger stand when I'm not using it whether it needs charging or not. Since it uses NiMH batteries there is no reason not to charge it frequently. It is still running happily on the original batteries it came with.

Yes good point. Being NiMH batteries, i realize it's less prone to the "memory" problem that the NiCAD batteries have. I'm one of those cautious types that like to read the manual with a new product. I gave it a full charge overnight, I'll do it 2x more as instructed in the manual.
Hey Mucks, what the benefit of the MX 1000 over the 700. I realize it's laser however, but i just don't understand the benefit of it. Does it have a faster sampling rate??
The laser emitter and detector in the MX1000 has far greater resolution than the simple red LED in other optical mice. As a result the MX1000 will work on reflective surfaces like a glass desktop that will drive an ordinary optical mouse crazy. Because the laser resolves far more points per inch of travel it can resolve extremely small mouse movements accurately.
I have not had a chance to try the MX1000 yet, to see if it is comfortable for my hand. A mouse is an extension of your hand and senses, it must feel natural to you or you won't feel comfortable using it. That's why I haven't purchased one yet. Once I see how it feels, and if find I like it, I'll buy it.
I have been a Logitech fan ever since the Mouse-man-wheelie-mouse, that was, I believe, their first ergonomic design that "fitted" the hand ... I was real upset when that mouse was dropped/discontinued. But then along came the MX.
I bought the MX 700 the week it became available. At one point the mouse sporadicaly refused to communicate with the base. When I talked with customer support at Logitech they sent me a new mouse and base, no questions asked, and didn't even ask for the old mouse back. That's what I call customer support. I think I'm getting the MX 1000 for Christmas.
