I've stumbled upon some gaming sites that offer a free full version of the following games. Usually, I'm a bit leary of anything that's advertised as "free" on the internet and was wondering if anyone of you have had experiences w/ the following websites:
Well, we will see, I stick it on "Mikey", Mikey tries everything. Actually, Mikey is a old Athlon 1gig machine, I expose to potential intruders and test new net services. He does get some bad treatment from the "vile netters", but he traps IP's and traces to back to provider and if the "VN" (read VC) are not careful I upload "my little friend". Some agencies react badly to being probed in certain places and my little friend insures attention from some very heartless government employees.
If this burns to cd as advertised, then this may not be to bad.
just downloaded and played with that MHPA multi demo, bad demo in that how to take objectives is unclear. I ran around the first objective and it never acknowledged my presence.
Graphics and game play seem solid, perhaps if it had robots to play with it my interest may have been held, but this is an MP demo that does not hook into the internet. So like a razor without a blade, it's useless.
Ran all the spyware stuff and found nothing to be concerned about.
Fastest download I seen in awhile, I'm going to time it against ea games servers and planetdownload with the sp demo to see if this is better download platform.
Pretty fast downloads, I am downloading single player mohpa from ea games, hidden and dangerous, as well as halo2 from gigex.
Gigex is maintaining two downloads at 441kb each while ea is limping at 138k on one single load. There doesn't appear to be anytracking or spyware from the first load, I'll check after the three complete and see if the cookies come from ea or gigex.
Gigex is catching and surpassing EA downlads by a wide margin, with 50% downloaded for EA I started the gigex, gigex is right at 48% for one and 35% for the other while EA is at 66%.
For game demo downloads this is fast, atleast till 1 zillion others find it and start using it.
Thanks for the feedback Casca. I wanted to try out Hidden & Dangerous as it was advertised as the "full" version. I just installed a new HDD and did a fresh install of my dual-boot. The last thing I wanted was to D/L some spyware crap on my first week of being back.
Have you run Adaware or Spybot? Gigex SpeedDelivery is listed as spyware in various sites as a hijacker.
"Resets your browser's settings to point to other sites. Hijacks may reroute your info and address requests through an unseen site, capturing that info. In such hijacks, your browser may behave normally, but be slower."
>Have you run Adaware or Spybot? Gigex SpeedDelivery is listed >as spyware in various sites as a hijacker.
There's probably a high chance there's malicious spyware on that Gigex site. Past visits to similar gaming sites have usually turned up some spyware with AdAware & Spybot.
