"missing drives"

I re installed everything yesterday.
Today both my hard drive and cdrw.are not working.the hd lights and opens but nothing works..the cdrw..doesn't show as installed.
I have nothing showing in My Computer.
Can to tell me where to start looking for what the problem could be please.

Not much info to go by, but I would use a boot disk, fdisk and remove partition, reboot, fdisk and build new partition, reboot, format, reboot, scandisk, reboot and re-install the OS if all checks out.

Before you do that, look for hardware solutions. Open the case and check that all your connections are secure, and the right way around.
And I'm not sure how you're going to scandisk before you install the OS.

I checked all connections.
On my second reboot all went back to normal.
I'm gonna assume that I jiggled(a good repair technique) something.
