First time here, great site learned quite a bit in a short time. Quick question I have two computers one has Windows ME other has Windows 95. I don't have either disk and I bought them pre-loaded, is there a chance I can burn ME to a cd disk and download it to my W95 comp. Any help is greatly appreciated.
AS the ranger said, you need the install disk in order to have the needed setup files that do the actual install. Unless you have a disk from an older version of Windows, you will not be able to use an upgrade version because it will ask for proof of ownership during the install. You will need a full version. Also copying from another computer would be a copyright violation.
The other thing you could do (besides buying a copy of Windows) is buy a copy of Ghost or another drive imaging program. Then make an image of your HD and burn it to CD. Make backups every so often. Then if something goes awry, you can restore the backup image.
