Why do the shortcuts I place on the desktop for pcqanda (and other websites) revert from their logo image to the big blue "e" image?
Seems like they will keep the right image for a few days before this happens.

The favicons that you download are places in the Temporary Internet Files folder. These are frequently erased, leavin no choice except fot the default Windows icon to replace them.

If you want to keep the special icons that this, and many other sites use, you have to rename them and move them to a permanent folder location on your hard drive, and correct the path to them in the Properties for the site you want to use them.

There is a program called FavOrg that will do this for you automatically, and scan all your favorites to retrieve any other favicons for you.

There is a source for free desktop icons for personal use. The file is quite large, but the icons are delightful. I have replaced almost all desktop icons with ones from this large collection. If you wish to try them, access http://iconmania.8m.com/agreement.html. Best wishes.

Thanks for all the replies.

Since Mr. Shelly let me in as to where they were stored on my computer i have taken his advice by renaming them and moving to a new folder on C where they are safe and sound.
