"an unusual icon on my desk top"

i don't know where it came from and don't know if it is a threat of any kind. hope someone can tell me about it. the icon looks like the old 3.2 icons. and it has the " ~ " sign under it. i delete it and it will come back. i recently put xp on my computer. i also put "adaware" on (but removed it because it interfered with my network sharing). what is this icon? should i be concerned? and yes i am the "grasshopper) and should learn the new ways. thanks for any help. Brick

The link below explains "What is the Tilde (~) file that appears on Desktop" and how to deal with it.

Well, that's interesting. I knew it resulted from the patch and had something to do with OE, but I didn't realize it was because of changes in the address book. If I understand the article, that also means that if you delete the tilde from your desktop you also delete the new entry in the address book. Is that correct?
