The pc is a Dell Inspiron 5000 laptop, PIII 500 w/speed-step, 2x128 RAM. Windows/Office 2000, Visual Studio 6-SP5. I'm wondering if it is a Visual Studio debugger? The machine goes many days with no problem, then that message pops up for a few days and the cycle repeats itself. It doesn't happen on one program exclusively. Anyone familiar with this? thanks, Robert

It's ok, it ain't a waste.
Say, Lackosleep, what is Visual Interdev? I keep on hearing Visual Basic, but I don't even know what it is. Is it some kinda programming language application? Thanks!

Sorry for the delayed response. Visual Basic and Visual Interdev are Microsoft products for designing applications for a Windows environment. With Visual Basic, the idea is to reduce coding of visual items like buttons, windows, drop-downs,etc... to allow you to get to the heart of the application quicker. Here's some cut and paste...
"The working environment in Visual Basic is often referred to as the integrated development environment or IDE because it integrates many different functions such as design, editing, compiling, and debugging within a common environment. In most traditional development tools, each of these functions would operate as a separate program, each with its own interface. "
