"A Handy Freeware found"
Sun Sep-28-03 12:15 AM by _Chewy_

Per the article i read recently on TechTV's website, i downloaded and tried out this handy freeware. At first glance it seems like just another 'quick launch' bar - but it's better IMHO. My quicklaunch bar has quickly become full and i loathed the idea of changing it to two rows to display all the icons. This freeware is just the answer. I installed on my system today and it does an excellent job.

Some of the options i really like are:

1)Shutdown pc/or monitor
2)Reboot the system.
3)Open/close CD trays
4)Open any folder/files on your hard drive w/ the clikc of a button

And there even a screenshot utility built-in - although it only allows you save the image as a bitmap file.

Here's a sample snapshot of my menu.

The answer to an over abundance of quick launch item, courtesy of Grogan quite some time ago now, is to move your cursor over the vertical bar located to the right of the quick launch items leftward until only 4 or 5 remain. Take a look at the attachments. You'll notice a tiny double "arrow" to the right of the quick launch icons. Clicking on it results in the popup shown in the 2nd attachment. It can be alphabetized, or not, depending on your preferences.

Jim.

Thanks for posting this. I find a lot of stuff with TechTV.

Their DCOM utility for example.

There is so much to be found and when we post it here for the others, everyone gets a chance to check it out.

I hear news of updates for most all of my protection utilities here.

KJT, I already knew about that option but personally i don't like it. I like my quick launch icons in full view all the time and this freeware allows me to add some shortcuts for my most frequently accessed folders.

Doesn't sit on my desktop - it's in the system tray. And i know about the feeling of having a cluttered desktop. This freeware will add just about any applic. shortcut you want, and thus free up more space on your desktop.
