Have a friend who has an older laptop which just went out. All he can tell me are the codes on screen are 136 and 161 and 191. I'm not there to view it and he's so crazy i can't talk him thru telling me what he is seeing. He took it to the guy who he originally purchased from(Crooked) and he indicated the guy immediately indicated it was the motherboard and it would cost more to fix than a new or replacement. The Guy won't even reduce the price for an alternate one since he's only had it less than 6months. Does anyone know if these codes relate to that problem?
I'm assuming this is an IBM Thinkpad. It would help if you gave us the model. The 161 error means that the CMOS battery has gone bad. 191 may refer to the same thing. Not sure about the 136, but if you provide a model, we can dig around on IBMs website.
