We need a snazzy new Logo for the new website. It will be used in a Favicon, and to identify our pages. We know there is a lot of graphic design talent in our community, so let's see what we can come up with.
The winning submission will be awarded the prize of a Samsung Yepp YP-20 mini mp3 player donated by none other than the Crazygerman himself!
We are starting the contest here, and it will continue on the new site to allow everyone time to get creative.

Shelly, can you specify an exact or minimum and maximum pixel size? Will the page colors mostly be the same gray, blue and white as here? What format do you want it in? Is the "and" mandatory vs. "&" or "+"?3telo4

The color scheme of the pages at the new site will be the same as here at PC911. A standard favicon is a maximum of 16x16 pixels. The PC911 logo at the top of these pages is 125x50 pixels as an example.
There is no connection whatsoever with PCQandA and Jason's Toolbox, or his software.
THe reason we do not have & in the site URL is because ampersands can not be used under the URL naming convention. I feel sure PCQ&A will be used in casual communications. It's like PC911 is pcnineoneone in its URL.

No you weren't. I'll be running PCQandA (with the help of the moderators of course), but it will be completely separate from Jason's Toolbox. (I'll have to add PCQandA.com to my URL list below. )
OK I feel better now. I am happy that things are working out, 'from the ashes' so to speak. This site has been first on my links bar ever since I discovered it a couple years ago.

Is there a particular format that you are looking for Shelly? What all would you like the logo to entail? Is this something that you want to have specific for PCQandA or a logo to encorporate all the elements of what will compromise the PCQandA site?

Shelly, do you do your own printing on sepias or use a lettering template?....That's a form of artwork ya' know,,,,you may be more gifted than you know... I always had to use a template if I wanted the inspectors to be able to read my specs.

I'll probably have to wait until this weekend to play around with this a little more but, here's a couple little samples to start. The PC911 logo has worked well for years, and with the overall look and feel of PC911 being retained on the new site, I thought these might help with that goal:

I think Zema's idea with the partial PC911 link is great. We are retaining the PC911 for our UD and the site will remain up. Gives it a 'feel' of what was before. No mistaking where we came from. I would vote for it unless Alex felt otherwise.

To avoid any copying of ideas, I've set up a mailbox for submissions to be sent to. Send all submissions to: PCQandA@jasons-toolbox.com (We don't have "PCQandA.com" e-mail addresses set up just yet, so I'm using a "jasons-toolbox.com" one.) Make sure to include your PC911 screen name with the submission and attach your images to the e-mail message. You can attach more than one image per e-mail or e-mail multiple times. I'll share the images with the other moderators to decide on a winner.

I always believe that simplicity is the key. Straightforward and to the point. I cannot handle animated pics that are to busy.I love these though, I would though change the font to the right of the first graphic looks too clowny..no offence whatsoever your all way talented ...just an opinion ok.

Would a selection of a certain number of Logos by the moderators and then a vote by the registered members for the winning Logo be advisable? Just a thought.

What a roundup of talent. Wish I knew how to do that stuff. I really like almost all of the graphics. I bet the final decision is going to be a tough one And boy does it feel good to be home again!!!

What a great well of talent it seems we have. I used to be a sign painter long long ago but was not over-talented, but during those few years I rubbed shoulders with some of the best. I learned that less is more, that gold leaf was expensive, and that if you wanted people to get the message, you smacked em in the face with a highly readable first message. That would be the logo. The graphics that slide or jump or move are very pretty but they hurt my old eyes. I believe the logo should be very simple but graphically pleasing to the eye. After all, the people who come to this forum know what this great group does and what its main purpose is so all the lettering that imparts info about the site should be separate yet close to the logo. I am sure that no matter which graphic is chosen it will be tasteful and classy. Like Shelly says, we will be living with it for a long time.
Well like Shelly said, engineers seldom have great art talent, although there are exceptions such as DaVinci.
Anyway I thinkered with these and submitted them to JAson, just thought I share and see what ya'll thought.
In particular I was trying to link 911 and Q&A with the phrase "In plain english", 'course that is subject to Alex's approval since the phrase first appeared on 911.
However I thought it would be a good bridge and link to our past at 911.
