I have been thinking about making the switch to ZA 3.1. However, I want all your opinions about that, good and bad. Something in the back of my mind is telling me to stay where I am with 2.x because it does stop far more e-mail virus scripts (even though it was only suppose to stop one type). Is 3.1 that much better? Is it worth losing the e-mail protection? If you have NAV 2002, do you even need the e-mail protection that 2.x provides?

hi jeff, although i can't answer your specific question, i also felt as you, and was undecided on what to do, so i did it, and the bottom line was i had to reformat and reinstall windows after the download because it was something i found out later that i didn't do first. and that was to turn off true vector first, although i know it probulary was my fault that i had the problems i had, and also i believe zone alarm is a good firewall, with that said, i became spooked with zone alarm, and am afraid to download it again, just something in my head, so i went with sygate instead and feel okay about it. so if you update don't forget about turning off true vector first.

You are correct about the email protection. ZoneLabs erroneously made ZA free's MailSafe protect you against 37 different email attachment file types. That protection persisted through the 2.6.362 version. However, with the 3x version they will strip away all file types except .vbs.
Unless you feel a compelling reason to upgrade, I would recommend staying with the 2.6.362 version.

>> NAV is all the mail protection you need.
My preference is the same. ZA recommends not using their 'mailsafe' option with something like the NAV email download protection feature. I've always chosen to use NAV and disable the feature in ZA. I recently went from ZA pro 2x to ZA Plus 3x, and I prefer the later version. Haven't had a single problem with it.

Hello everyone,
I considered everyone's opinions and I decided to uninstall ZA 2.6, turn on NAV 2002's script protection, and install ZA 3.1. All is working as it should.
ZA's new layout will take some getting used to; but, it shouldn't be too tough.
