Just got around to implementing your nifty directions for creating PDF files using GhostScript. Works like a charm and sure beats the price of Adobe Acrobat. Installed the postscript printer (HP Color LaserJet 4550 PS) and GS software 7.03 under WinXP Pro.
Actually I was just passing on what I read elsewhere. Those weren't my destructions, so I can't take credit, but I will accept your thanks for passing on a good tip. My pleasure, glad someone got some good use from it.
I've been fiddling with that printer a little more lately, and I've found it isn't very good with graphics, but it does work very well with text.
In a word all the PDfs I've created have excellent graphics. Don't forget this is a 'virtual' printer so load the most expensive laser printer (color too) that money can't buy. I simply changed the default 300 dpi setting to the max available and all the graphics print to file beautifully.
In the past hour or so I've experimented with a variety of files printing the pcnineoneone home page, word files with inserted images, jpg and gif files, a screen capture and even an excel file with an embedded map graphic. They all look great on opening with Acrobat Reader 5.0.
Now if I can just figure out how to create bookmarks?
