"Optiplex 7010 and Xeon E3-1240?"

Will the Sandy Bridge Xeon E3-1240 work in a Optiplex 7010 SFF? I have an Ivy Bridge i5-3470 in it now.
The CPU support list shows both Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge, but I was wondering if the Xeon would be recognized?

So short answer no by the looks of it.If I remember correctly there was some pin mods people did with some xeons to get boards to recognize them. Those were enthusiasts that had some knowledge and pricier boards though so not usual use scenarios.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I saw that first link you posted myself, but didn't feel it proved anything. One reply contradicted the other.

You second link isn't working for me, so if you can post it again, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Thanks. Guess I better take a pass on the Xeon.
