I have found PVSonyDll.dll in Windows\System32 and Programmes and Features in my Windows 7 refers to it as being an "uninstallable" programme and I wondered what it was, the name certainly gives no indication as to its use. See here for an example:
I did a bit of extensive Googling and generally it is described as a "malicious file" which can be used by hackers to compromise a computers security as per the link above.
By the same token however this site lists it as a downloadable .dll:
My question therefore is this "is it a malicious file or is it a required .dll bearing in mind that I have no Sony products on my system BUT I do use NVIDIA and this file is also referred to in that connection. In the meantime I have renamed it and so far have noticed no ill effects

This is Windows 7 term for "Add/Remove Programmes". It indicates that the programme can be removed.
Thanks for the links... I'll check them out. The reason my post appears elsewhere is because it was moved and I had no idea there were replies and I never knew until you pointed it out.

In that case, thinking it is only there for informational reasons.
So long as it is not malware, I wouldn't worry about it.
My uninstaller says:
