85395, Another forum member passes Posted by General_K, Wed Mar-30-05 12:15 AM
I just learned today that another member of the PCQ&A community has passed away.
Marie Seely, known as "Montana" here, and affectionately known as "Mons" to those who knew her, lost her battle with cancer yesterday, March 28th, 2005.
She hadn't been active here for quite a while, but I hope some here will remember her.
From The Omaha World-Herald, March 29th, 2005:
SEELY—Marie, 48 yrs., of Omaha. Born June 8, 1956 in Anaconda, Montana. Graduated High School in Anaconda in June 1974. Entered the Army in Feb. 1975 and was discharged honorably in Feb. 1978. Worked for 20+ yrs. for UPRR. She married Ed on Oct. 16, 2002. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Raymond R. Seely. Survived by husband, Ed. VISITATION Thurs. 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home. Memorials to the family. GOOD SHEPHERD FUNERAL HOME 6330 North 56th St. 505-9260
"Montana"

Here is her profile:

I remember Marie for her wicked sense of humor, and the strength she showed even when she knew she was losing the battle. She reached out to me two years ago when I was down with cancer myself, and I'll always remember that.
R.I.P. "Mons" ;(
Edit: Added obituary.

It's strange how you don't remember someone until this happens, and then you remember how active she was "a long time ago".
As near as I can figure, her last posts were in December, 2001. Here's one of hers from the last day she posted:
"The biggest conspiracy has always been the fact that there is no conspiracy. Nobody's out to get you. Nobody gives a shit whether you live or die. There, you feel better now? ---Dennis Miller"

it was with great sadness that i received the news from Marie's husband of her passing,,
through it all, marie had such spunk, grit and determination, and a wicked sense of humor that kept not only her* going, but the rest of those who knew her, as well. she was truly an inspiration to many, many people and touched many a heart, mine especially. when her pain was at its 'bearable' stage, she spent her last months online at cancer forums, sharing information and helping others in whatever way she could.
my prayers and deepest condolences to her husband, Ed, and her family.
rest in peace, my friend, you have given me a wonderful friendship, and memories that will make me both laugh and cry.
God bless you,
d.

Marie/Montana, was a very honest speaking person that after she came down really hard on me for smoking, I learned to listen to and appreciate. God knows she went through hell after she had her oral cancer. She lost her tongue and had to be fed by a tube in her mouth. She had trouble talking without her tongue, but she fought hard, and didn't hesitate to share her message about smoking. I sit here today, still smoking, with tears in my eyes.......Lord knows she was very honest about her situation.
I for one will never forget her open and honest comments of how her life was affected. RIP peace Marie.
